☾ CHAPTER SEVEN ☽
It was Athena's first class of the day, and her first class ever at Hogwarts. She sat at her assigned desk in the transfiguration classroom, making sure she had her book, quill and ink pot set out neatly in front of her. She never felt nervous like this in her old school, but then again, she didn't really care much about education then. Neither the school or her teachers cared about her, so why would she bother caring about them?
Once she was satisfied with her neatly organised desk, she looked around the room expecting to see Harry somewhere behind her, but he was nowhere to be seen. She was sure he was supposed to be there. She could've sworn they were in all the same classes. She frowned a little, wondering where her brother was as she turned around to face the front of the class.
Freya and Maeve were sat together a few desks over from Athena, so she couldn't talk to them while they waited for class to being. Not unless she wanted to shout which she didn't. Out of boredom, she opened the text book in front of her and began to read the first page.
"Is anyone sitting here?"
Athena looked up to find Hermione looking down at her. "Uh, no." She replied, closing the book. "The seat's all yours."
"Where's Harry? And that Weasley. They're going to be late." Hermione stated.
"I have no idea. I haven't seen them since breakfast." Athena said. "And that Weasley has a name, you know. It's Ron."
"I know." Hermione said, setting her things down. She paused for a moment, as if she was trying to gather her thoughts before speaking again. Athena watched her for a moment, expecting her to say something but when she didn't, she turned her attention back to the front of the class.
Her gaze fell upon the cat that was sitting on Professor McGonagall's desk. It had been there since she arrived with Freya and Maeve. All it did was sit there and watch as all the students began to fill the room. Thought Athena did notice it seemed to be keeping a particularly close eye on Freya. Maybe it's her Granny's cat. Athena thought to herself.
"Athena." Hermione said. "I do think you and I should be friends."
"But we don't have anything in common." Athena replied.
"We've never talked, so do you know that for sure?" Hermione asked.
Athena studied Hermione's face for several moments. She never had a friend outside of Harry before coming to Hogwarts, and now several people were trying to be her friend. She had no idea why. But she had given Freya and Maeve a chance when they approached her, so maybe she should do the same with Hermione; even if she did think she was a little stuck up and too smart for her own good.
