"Hi. My name is Emmett Knight, and I'm the Novel Ninja."
He looks to the camera, the people behind it doing their mini interview.
"I got the nickname in the Navy, because I always had a book on me, no matter where we were. It kinda just stuck, even after I was discharged."
The screen changed to show some old footage and pictures as Emmett continued talking.
"I had a hard time readjusting to civilian life when I came home and Ninja gave me an outlet to use. The gym gave me someplace to let out any anger had under the surface."
He took a breath.
"My daughter is what really pulled me out. She really is the light of my life and when she was born, I knew I needed to get it together. Genevieve and Ninja are the reasons I truly felt normal again.
My younger brother, Liam, always said I needed to have someone to take care of. See, I had always looked after him. And I had to come home because our mom got sick."
He had to take a second to recompose himself. These were difficult memories.
"She was diagnosed and not doing well. My brother wasn't 18 yet, so I had to come home and help out until he was no longer a minor in the eyes of the law.
Luckily, she got better. I'm happy to say my mom has been in remission for almost 5 years now."
The screen shows a bunch of images of their mom, recovering and smiling with her boys and granddaughter.
"I'm finally in a place where I can give my daughter the life she deserves and I want to show her that no matter what life throws are you, you can always stand back up and make it better.
Because at the end of the day, all you've got to do is prove it to yourself."

Thought I'd give you Emmett's initial Ninja Running Package. If any of you have ever watched ANW, it's the basic overview they do before he runs the course. This one specifically is for his very first run, so no mention of Natasha.
