Living In The Moment, With You By My Side

Chapter one

"Back off," Camille screamed.
The men that Aurora just killed and turned into vampires were looking at Camille like she was prey, and her heartbeat wasn't helping.
Is this how I am going to die? She thought to herself
One of the vampires came at her and sank his teeth onto her neck, and she screamed.

Camille jolted awake with tears running down her face, with fear that made her heart beat so fast that she couldn't even think straight. Her hand went straight to her neck to inspect the vampire bite, but she felt nothing. She looked at her surroundings, which was when it sank in... She wasn't at her apartment but at the Mikaelson Compound. Klaus brought her here so that he can take care of her and protect her after what Aurora did to her but it looks like even in her dreams Aurora was still haunting her, she felt scared and helpless. She tried to calm herself by counting 1 to 100, closing her eyes and hoping that she won't see those faces anymore but she was wrong so she got up and walked out of the guest room she was occupying, she let her feet guide her to Klaus's bedroom door. She wasn't sure if his home or awake, but she knocked softly on his door and waited. She knocked again and opened his door, and walked in.

Klaus was sleeping when he heard the soft knock. He heard it again and the soft heartbeat. He knew it was Camille and felt her presence the minute she walked in and whispered his name....
" Klaus... are you awake?" She said

Klaus opened his eyes, and immediately, his eyes turned soft at the sight of Camille. He could tell that she had been crying
"Camille, are you alright?" asks Klaus

The moment Klaus asked her that question more tears were running down her face and she shook her head, Klaus was instantly out of bed and standing in front of her, Camille was suddenly in his arms comforting her. They stayed like that until Camille composed herself, and she could finally speak.
"I can't sleep, I keep seeing their faces, and I haven't been able to sleep for days without the same nightmare haunting me,"

Upon hearing that, Klaus's heart broke. He almost lost Camille because of Aurora, his worst nightmare almost coming true. He thought that if he kept his distance and things uncomplicated then Camille would be safe but he was wrong so he made a promise to himself that Camille will be safe no matter what, he will do whatever it takes to protect the people he loves and he knew deep down inside no matter how many times he tried to ignore it he was in love with Camille and almost losing her made him rethink things. The thought of spending the rest of his life without her by his side, as his friend, confidant and maybe his lover if she will accept him, is something that he does not wish to happen, he needs her, he wants her and he will do everything in his power to keep her safe.
Camille was holding onto Klaus, listening to his heartbeat as a distraction, she needs this. She needed this to at least feel better, even if it was just for a moment.

"You can sleep here, I will stay by your side for as long as you want me to," said Klaus

Camille nods

She moved to the other side of the bed, and Klaus noticed the hesitation until she spoke.
"Can I borrow your t-shirt? This one is drenched in my sweat. "

Klaus walked to his walk-in closet a minute later, and he walked out with a t-shirt. He hands it over to her
"Thank you," whispered Camille

she walked to his bathroom, but she didn't bother to lock the door. She changed out of the sweaty t-shirt and put on the clean one. It smelled like Klaus, and surprisingly, this gave her comfort. She returned to the bedroom and found Klaus waiting for her and he gave her a small smile, she got under the covers and so did Klaus.

This was new for Klaus, sharing a bed with an attractive woman without wanting to devour her, it's not that he doesn't to, but under different circumstances he and  Camille would have been naked and he would have been worshipping her body, making her scream his name because of pleasure but not tonight. Tonight, Camille needs comfort, and he doesn't want to scare her nor take advantage of her vulnerability.
