Six Weeks Later
New York, NYThe blue light that illuminated the club made Freya look like a princess as she flipped her hair over her shoulder. The bartender gave her a drink, but she didn't order it and we both looked at it. The bartender points to this white guy, standing across the bar smiling kindly at her. She lifts the drink with a small smile and smells it before she takes a sip.
"Yes! I love to see this— Is this okay?" I ask over the music that played.
"I'm okay, I needed this. Thank you." She puts her arm around me squeezing tightly and I just embrace her just as tight. A week ago she calls me from Jamaica to tell me she has to tell me something and she's booked a ticket to come see me. I cleared out my guest room for her and for a week we have been shacked up, as she tells me how she and Walid are on a break. She's since blocked him on everything, that however does not stop him from trying to contact her. I'm proud of her for standing on business.
Cench and I were barely on speaking terms. I tried really hard to be okay for his birthday because it was important to me that he enjoyed that day, so I did what I had to get him his birthday gifts. He called me thankful and appreciative of his wedding band, but the following day he was yet again trying to argue with me over my presentation on social media.
I'd deleted multiple pictures in the last month all because he didn't like how I 'portrayed' that I was single on social media. Which was false, we previously agreed that our social medias would strictly be a no faces type of thing. So if the photo of him on my Instagram is of the back of his head, I'm not changing that now.
Emery kept commenting on my photos, with winks, smiley faces, and little banter that insinuated we were friends outside of work. Which again would be something that's false, I strictly kept it work related with him especially since my remote position started. We followed each other before I left to Las Vegas, and I always thought I kept it respectfully friendly, Oakley however not so much.
