I wake up, my head and side hurts. I can hear someone's voice. A soft song. I recognise the voice, but not the song. I blink several times until my vision finally comes into focus. I am sitting on a bed in a quiet, dimly lit room, when I look down there is a bandage wrapped around my rib cage. Kerrie is sitting beside me, singing softly under her breath. She immediately stops when she realises I am awake.

"Hey there, Kerrie." I say and look up at her. Kerrie flushes, and smiles. She has always hated to be caught singing.

"Hey. How do you feel?" She asks. Her voice is sweet, and there's worry in her eyes.

"Like shit." I say and smirk a little. "What happened?" Kerries frowns, her face looking sympathetic.

"You were hurt in an incident. The doctors gave you medicine." She glances down before her expression is soft again. "Do you remember anything?"

"No, all I remember is being outside with Nevaeh." I try to think back but there isn't anything coming to mind, just the old tree. Kerrie nods, putting her hand on my arm. Her hands feel like silk, it's freaky.

"Don't try to think about it." She says. She's silent for a moment, before smiling at me. "Hey, do you know what today is?"

"I have no idea?" Last I remember it was the 10th of December.

"Well then, since you don't know, let me remind you. It's Christmas, Your favourite holiday." Kerrie says with a smile on her face.

"Oh really? That's amazing, though it sucks being in the hospital. Now we can't celebrate with everyone else." I know Kerrie has never liked Christmas, but she always celebrates with me. " Though, honestly, I don't really feel like it this year. Although, food sounds good." Any food at this point. I am starving.

"So then we'll just have a quiet Christmas. No parties, or anything crazy."

"Yeah, that's great." I take her hand and gently kiss it. I noticed a ring on her finger. "Who got you the ring?" Kerrie blushes slightly, and pulls her hand away. She has her normal snake ring on her middle finger, but now she also has a silver heart shaped diamond on her ring finger.

"Oh, uhh, no one." She mumbles, trying to hide the blush on her face. She quickly changes the subject. "Are you feeling hungry?"

"Yes, I am, but answer the question. Who gave you the ring?"

"No one!" Kerrie says, still blushing. "It's just..." She trails off, looking embarrassed.

"Come on! What is the point of a twin if you keep secrets?" Kerrie frowns, then sighs, realising that she has to come clean. I love playing the twin card. It makes her feel guilty.

"Well..." She says quietly, hesitantly. "Lovel."

"Really? That prick bought you a ring?" I say in a surprised voice, somehow my tone went up. Kerrie flushes, turning away.

"Yeah, he did..." She says, sounding embarrassed and slightly annoyed.

"So is this like saying you two are 100% together? Not just casual hookups?" Kerrie looks away from me and takes a moment to answer.

"Well... yeah." She finally says.

"Congrats? I guess? I don't know exactly what to say."

"I know, I know." Kerrie says, sighing. She looks down at her hand. "But enough about that. How does your side feel? Does it still hurt?"

"Yeah, but it's not too bad."

"Okay, don't try to move too quickly, okay?" Kerrie says, sounding concerned again. "I should have the nurse come by with more medicine."
