-chapter twenty two-

LAYLA HAD WOKEN EARLY AND MADE BREAKFAST.

After all it was Valentine's Day.

"Good morning and Happy Valentine's Day." She spoke watching Tim walk into the kitchen.

"I made breakfast." She commented as she moved towards him placing a quick kiss to his cheek. "And I promise it's edible. I've been practicing."

"I'm late, I don't have time to eat." Tim spoke courtly. Layla looked at him confused as she checked the time.

"But you don't usually have to go in for another twenty minutes."

"It's Valentine's Day. Anything can happen so I need to get there early." Layla sighed.

"Okay." Tim grabbed the rest of his things and the coffee Layla had made for him before he was out the door.

Without a goodbye, a kiss or an I love you. Just out the door.

That's when Layla knew something was wrong.

"That being said, Detective." Layla and Celina watched as the man, Detective Foster, stepped to the front of the room.

"I've been working a group called the army of freedom. Wannabe militia tough guys. And yesterday I caught wind of a new operation."

"Is it some kind of attack?" John asked as he looked through the briefing paperwork.

"Possibly. What I did overhear was talk of sourcing lab equipment and chemicals."

Nyla spoke up next. "Mobile drug lab?"

"That was my first thought."

"Then we're most likely talking meth." Angela said with a nod.

"Narcotics is their main source of income." Foster began. "Two weeks ago my department brought down their primary math lab."

Layla shook her head. "It might as well be a bomb driving around the city." She said.

"Exactly."
