Maxwell's phone buzzed in her pocket, the screen illuminating the dimly lit room. She glanced at the caller ID - Carcole.

"Hey, Max, "
Cole answered, her voice laced with amusement. "Still at the party? It's almost midnight, you know."

"Yeah, I know,"
Maxwell's voice was muffled, as if she was talking over loud music.

"But it's so fun, I don't want to leave yet. What's up?"
Cole sighed, glancing at the clock. It was 11:32 pm.
"Actually, we have that meeting with the investors tomorrow morning, remember? It's at 9:00 sharp."

A beat of silence.
"Oh, right,
Maxwell said, her voice suddenly sobering.

"Crap, I totally forgot. I'll be right there. You guys are still at the house, right?"

"Yeah, we're just hanging out. Get some sleep on the way, you'll need it," Cole replied, a hint of concern in her voice. "See you soon."

"Thanks, Cole. I'll be there soon," Maxwell said, her voice fading as she hung up. Cole shook her head, a smile playing on her lips. She knew Maxwell would be there soon, but she couldn't help but worry about her friend's sleep-deprived state.

Maxwell slipped her phone back into her pocket, her gaze scanning the crowded party room. A flash of blonde hair caught her eye, and a woman with a mischievous grin was approaching her.

"Hey there, Handsome," the woman purred, her voice husky and low. "You look like you could use a drink." She held out a glass filled with a vibrant pink liquid. "Want to try this? It's a special blend, just for you."

Maxwell hesitated, her hand hovering over the offered glass. "Uh, thanks, but I'm actually heading out," she said, trying to sound polite.

"Oh, come on," the woman insisted, her smile widening. "One drink won't hurt. Besides, I'd love to get to know you better."

Maxwell felt a wave of discomfort wash over her. She wasn't interested in anything more than a friendly conversation, but the woman's persistent flirtation made her feel awkward. "Really, I have to go," she said, trying to extricate herself from the situation. "It was nice meeting you."

She turned to leave, but the woman's hand reached out and gently grasped her arm. "Don't be shy," she said, her voice dropping to a seductive whisper. "Let's have some fun."

Maxwell felt a shiver run down her spine. She quickly pulled her arm away and hurried towards the exit, the woman's laughter echoing behind her. She needed to get out of there, and fast.

After that encounter, Maxwell quickly made her way out of the crowded party room, the woman's flirtatious words still ringing in her ears. She stepped outside into the cool night air, taking a deep breath to calm her nerves. As she walked towards her car, she couldn't shake off the unsettling feeling from the encounter.

Once safely inside her car, Maxwell sat for a moment, reflecting on the unexpected turn of events. She made a mental note to be more cautious in similar situations in the future. Starting the engine, she drove off into the night, grateful to be heading home and away from the uncomfortable encounter.

As Maxwell drove home, the events of the evening replayed in her mind. She thought about Cole's call reminding her of the early morning meeting, the flirtatious encounter at the party, and the mix of emotions she felt during it all. Despite the unsettling experience, she found solace in the familiar streets passing by her car window.

Arriving home, Maxwell parked her car and made her way to her apartment. She decided to unwind by making a warm cup of tea and settling into her favorite cozy corner with a good book. The tranquility of her home helped her relax and shift her focus away from the events of the night.
