Callie:

Another meeting. And of course, it had to be them. "Ugh, why them of all companies?" I muttered, drumming my fingers on the table to keep my frustration in check.

Needing a caffeine boost, I headed to Starbucks, my usual order already on my mind. As I entered, my gaze fell on the very spot where Maxwell, the barista, had spilled coffee all over my plate just the other day.

The memory brought a wave of annoyance, but it was morning, and I needed to keep my cool. I patiently waited for my coffee, the aroma filling the air.

The cafe door swung open, and a familiar scent wafted in, sending a jolt of recognition through me. A girl was placing her order at the counter, and her voice sounded strangely familiar. I turned my head, my heart skipping a beat. It was Maxwell.

"Seriously? Here again?" I muttered under my breath.

Maxwell caught my eye across the room, a smirk playing on her lips. I couldn't help but grit my teeth. "Maxwell, you're going to pay for this," I whispered, a chill running down my spine.

The bell rang, signaling that my order was ready. I got up to pick it up, passing by Maxwell as I did. She gave me a once-over and then, unexpectedly, grabbed my wrist as I was about to leave.

"Take me with you," she said, her tone surprisingly serious.

I turned to her, my eyes wide with surprise. "Huh?" I uttered, feeling completely caught off guard.

"I'm heading to the office too. Take me with you," she insisted.

My initial reaction was to refuse. "No," I stated firmly.

Her response was a stuttered, "Huh... um..."

I gently pulled my wrist out of her grasp and made my way to my car. As I settled in, I couldn't shake off the encounter with Maxwell. Taking a deep breath, I started the car and drove off, pondering the strange turn of events.

Maxwell's POV:

As I watched her walk away, my heart raced with a mix of nerves and excitement. I never expected to see her here, let alone have the courage to ask her to bring me along. But something compelled me to do it.

When she refused, I felt a pang of disappointment, but I couldn't blame her. Our interactions hadn't exactly been smooth sailing.

Her firm "No" echoed in my mind as she walked away, leaving me standing there, feeling a bit foolish. I tried to hide my embarrassment with a shaky response, "Huh... um..."

Watching her drive off, I couldn't help but wonder what could have been if she had said yes. Maybe it was time to find a different approach to get closer to her, one that didn't involve spilling coffee or awkward encounters at Starbucks.

At the building:

As I arrived at the office building, my thoughts were still lingering on the encounter at Starbucks. The sight of Maxwell there had caught me off guard, and the unexpected request to accompany me had left me puzzled.

Walking through the familiar corridors of the building, I couldn't shake off the curiosity about Maxwell's sudden appearance. What was she doing here? Was it just a coincidence, or was there something more to it?

Entering the meeting room, I found myself stealing glances around, half-expecting to see Maxwell again. The day was already filled with surprises, and I couldn't help but wonder what other unexpected twists it might bring.
After settling into the meeting room, I tried to focus on the agenda at hand. The discussions and presentations were engaging, but my mind kept drifting back to the encounters with Maxwell earlier in the day.

As the meeting progressed, I found myself stealing glances at the door, half-hoping to see Maxwell walk in. The thought of her presence added a layer of distraction to the already busy day.

Despite my attempts to concentrate, Maxwell's unexpected appearance continued to play on my mind. The day had taken an unexpected turn, and I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to it than just mere coincidence.

Maxwell's POV:

Sitting in the car after the encounter at Starbucks, my mind raced with a mix of emotions. The bold move to ask her to bring me along was unlike me, but there was something about her that made me take a chance.

As I watched her drive away, a feeling of regret crept in. Maybe I had overstepped, and her clear refusal echoed in my mind. I couldn't help but feel a sense of embarrassment and self-doubt.

Arriving at the office building, I took a deep breath before stepping inside. The thought of seeing her again in a different setting made my heart race with anticipation and nerves. What would happen next? Would our paths cross again, or was it just a fleeting moment of coincidence?

Entering the building, I tried to push aside my insecurities and focus on the reason for being there. But the memory of our brief interaction lingered.
