The morning light filtered softly through the dorm room window, casting a warm glow over the sleeping figures. Lilly was the first to stir, quietly slipping out of Caitlin's embrace. She had an essay to write, one she'd been procrastinating for two weeks, and now the deadline loomed.
She tiptoed to her desk, careful not to wake Caitlin, and powered up her laptop. As she began typing, the rhythmic tapping of the keys filled the room.
After a while, Caitlin woke up, stretching lazily. She glanced over at Lilly, who was hunched over her desk, fully absorbed in her work. "Morning," Caitlin mumbled, rubbing her eyes.
Lilly glanced back, smiling. "Morning, Cait"
Caitlin sat up, her hair tousled from sleep. "What time is it?"
"Just after seven," Lilly replied, turning back to her screen.
Caitlin got up and walked over, peering at Lilly's laptop. "Is this the essay you've been avoiding?"
Lilly nodded, her fingers still flying over the keyboard. "Yeah, it's due today. I'm almost done, though."
Caitlin chuckled. "Procrastination at its finest. Need any help?"
Lilly shook her head, a small smile playing on her lips. "Nah, I got it. Just need to finish these last few paragraphs."
Caitlin watched her for a moment, then leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "You're amazing, you know that?"
Lilly blushed, trying to focus on her essay. "Thanks, Cait."
Caitlin straightened up and stretched again. "I'm going to make some coffee. Want some?"
"Sure," Lilly said, grateful for the offer.
As Caitlin moved around the small kitchen, the smell of fresh coffee soon filled the room. Lilly continued typing, feeling a sense of relief as she neared the end of her essay. By the time Caitlin returned with two steaming mugs, Lilly was just wrapping up.
"Here you go," Caitlin said, handing Lilly a mug.
"Thanks," Lilly replied, taking a sip and savoring the warmth. "I just finished."
Caitlin smiled, sitting down on the edge of Lilly's bed. "See? You always pull through."
Lilly saved her document and closed her laptop, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Yeah, but I really need to stop putting things off until the last minute."
Caitlin laughed. "Well, at least you've got me to keep you on track now."
Lilly grinned, leaning back in her chair. "I guess I do."
After finishing her coffee, Lilly set her mug down and walked over to Caitlin, who was still sitting on the edge of her bed. Without a word, she straddled Caitlin's lap, wrapping her arms around Caitlin's neck. Caitlin looked up at her, surprised but pleased, placing her hands on Lilly's waist.
"You okay?" Caitlin asked softly, her eyes searching Lilly's face.
Lilly nodded, leaning in closer. "Yeah, I just wanted to be close to you."
Caitlin's eyes sparkled with mischief. "Oh, so you just couldn't resist me this morning, huh?"
Lilly laughed, rolling her eyes. "Don't get too full of yourself, Cait."
Caitlin smirked, her fingers gently tracing patterns on Lilly's sides. "Too late. You're sitting on my lap, practically begging for attention."
Lilly blushed, but she didn't move. "Maybe I am. Got a problem with that?"
"Not at all," Caitlin replied, her voice dropping to a playful whisper. "In fact, I kind of like it."
Lilly's cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red. "You're impossible."
"And you love it," Caitlin shot back, leaning in to nuzzle her nose against Lilly's. "Admit it."
"Maybe," Lilly conceded with a grin. "A little."
Caitlin's smile widened. "Just a little?"
"Okay, a lot," Lilly confessed, laughing softly. "Happy now?"
"Very," Caitlin said, pressing a quick kiss to Lilly's cheek. "So, what's the plan for today?"
Lilly shrugged, still smiling. "Besides finishing my essay, I don't have much planned."
"Perfect," Caitlin said, her hands sliding up to rest on Lilly's back. "Means I get to keep you all to myself."
Lilly giggled, feeling a rush of affection. "You're such a flirt, you know that?"
"Only for you," Caitlin replied, her eyes warm and sincere.
Lilly felt her heart flutter. "Good. Because I kind of like it."
Caitlin's grin turned soft. "good because I have no intention of stopping"
