As morning arrives, Abbie opens his eyes slowly, feeling exhausted and sore. He barely remembers what happened yesterday. He yawns softly and turns his head, feeling his cheek against Lana's mouth as she sleeps against the stretcher, one hand on Abbie's chest.

His pulse quickens immediately, and his cheeks flush. His eyes well up again, seeing the girl he loves by his side at this moment is the most comforting thing in this situation.

He gently rubs his cheek against hers, to feel some of her warmth and to wake her up pleasantly.

Lana: "H-Huh... W-What... Abbie..."

She opens her eyes drowsily, moving her arms and hugging Abbie as a way to stretch.

Abbie: "L-Lana... I'm sorry... I-I didn't want you to suffer if M-Miss Circle ate me... I didn't want to leave you alone, but I-I didn't want you to see m-my death either."

His voice was choked, his sensitive heart making it hard for him to express his feelings.

Lana: "Oh, Abbie..."

Abbie: "A-And I'm sorry for b-being insecure... I-I was afraid y-you would leave me."

Abbie began to shed some tears as he looked away from Lana. Seeing this, she started kissing his cheek tenderly as Abbie poured out his feelings for the first time.

Abbie: "Y-You're the only one who cares about me, the only one who truly loves me... You are my safe place."

Lana smiled tiredly and stroked Abbie's hair as he buried his face in her chest, once again smelling the scent of fabric and buttons on her.

Lana: "I love you, I want you to know that clearly, Abbie."

Abbie's pulse went through the roof at this, almost to the point of a heart attack since he had never received those words from anyone.

"I love you."

At that moment, he realized everything; he had found true love for the first time in his life. Now he didn't want to be separated from Lana by anything or anyone.

Abbie: "I-I love you too..."

It was hard for him to say those words; he felt a lump in his throat as he looked at her with nothing but love, a gaze that reflected total devotion.

Lana: "I was scared... I thought I had lost you when I saw you among those bushes."

She stroked his hand, placing it against her cheek and intertwining her fingers with Abbie's.

Lana: "I'm just relieved you're alive... I don't want to go back to that place, Abbie. I don't want them to try to hurt you again."

Lana's tone was a mix of concern and love. Abbie was also scared, as he started thinking about all the possible scenarios.

He never had much motivation in classes until he met Lana years ago.

For Abbie, the goal was to graduate and get an important job to give her everything she wanted, but now this presents an obstacle to achieving that.

Lana continued to stroke Abbie while sighing. She also had the dream of graduating to study arts because it was what she loved.

But at this moment, both of them reconsidered: Was it worth being on the brink of death every day for something like this?

Lana and Abbie exchanged a quick glance. Abbie saw Lana's patched-up clothes and felt guilty, while Lana saw Abbie's wounds.

Lana: "Let's escape from there."

Abbie: "I have to go back."

Both were silent with an expression of surprise.

Lana: "N-No, Abbie, you can find something else. I don't want you to be on the brink of death."

Abbie: "No! I want to go to give you a better life."

Both had good intentions, but this was causing them conflict at the moment.

Lana: "I don't want luxuries, I just want you!"

Abbie: "It's not luxuries, I-I just want us to live better."

Lana: "Circle will kill you if you go back!"

Abbie: "I-I..."

He fell silent. Lana was right; he wasn't that good, but that hurt him. He felt useless.

Lana: "I don't have much, I know... I can't offer you something big, Abbie. But I have my love and my desire to take care of you; I know it's mutual, so I'll tell you again... We have to leave."

Abbie: "B-But..."

He felt pressure in his chest along with the feeling of his heart slowly melting.

Abbie: "H-Hm... What are we going to do? We're too young. W-What about your parents?"

Lana: "They abandoned me a while ago..."

Abbie was shocked. He started thinking, and everything began to make sense. Usually, Lana didn't seem to have much time.

Lana: "I guess your dad would be angry if you leave suddenly."

Abbie: "W-Well... Probably, but I don't think he would do anything i-if the teacher tries to kill me again..."

Lana: "Okay... I guess running away isn't an option."

She stayed thinking for a while, playing with one of Abbie's locks of hair.

Abbie: "W-We should transfer to another school. Maybe we could enter an academy, um..."

Lana: "That could be... But I heard this was the only school in this city."

Abbie: "W-What would our option be then?..."

Lana: "Let me think, but we'll leave, I promise you."

They hugged each other without a sense of time, just wanting to be in each other's arms and think of a solution to get them out of this problem.

A nurse entered after a moment.

Nurse: "Ahem... Sorry to interrupt."

Lana was slightly startled by the sudden voice, and Abbie buried himself more against her chest, trying to feel protected.

Lana: "A-Ah... Did something happen?"

Nurse: "I received some things. This boy's father told me to give him this letter. Oh, and for some reason, there's also a notification from the school for... Lana."

Lana shivered a bit upon hearing that, but she tried to stay calm and took the two papers.

Lana: "Thanks..."

The nurse left, and Abbie, worried, looked at Lana before opening the supposed letter, though knowing his father, it was probably something hastily written.

They exchanged glances but took a deep breath and started reading.
