"Go to the store and bring back coconut milk, please."

Those were the specific instructions Polly has given Basil, just get coconut milk. Nothing more. Nothing less, but by no means was he in any condition to go outside, let alone be in public, but here he stood next to a streetlight during the height of dusk, clutching the small carton of milk.

He didn't want to go home.

He didn't want to sleep on every last excruciating thought that sat in his head and made it hard to even breathe.

And he sure as heck didn't want to die from getting hit by a truck, not even able to get a good glimpse at the driver as the mass of steel collided into his already frail body. Feeling nothing but an overwhelming numbness as everything went dark.

By any other means he should have passed away, but fate had other plans.

-------------------

"Sir, are y...ou ..o.k??"

Basil had finally came to, successfully forcing himself out of his unconsciousness. Only to be met with a unidentifiable girl, her worried expression being emphasized by her big blue eyes and downturned eyebrows. He felt the need to at least respond to her question, even if his throat felt as dry as a bone.

"..Come on, up on your feet." She slightly smiled, extending her hand

Although when he opened his mouth, all words that he SHOULD have been able to form were drowned out by the sound of a loud blast, taking both of their attention to the source. Which took the form of a wall in the building having been broken down by something neither of them were able to catch.

"Shit..!" the girl muttered under her breath, pulling out a handgun before opening fire, causing Basil to instinctively close his eyes and cover his ears, hoping, praying that something would just come and save him.

But he knew..

No level of divine intervention could save him, futilely letting a stream of tears roll down his cheeks.

"Cmon, we have to go, now!!" The girl yelled out, grabbing Basil's arm with a surprising amount of strength for someone of her stature, causing him to force his eyes open and to take a better look at the girl, finally taking notice on her long blue hair and almost futuristic outfit. But he couldn't stare at her for much longer before being dragged out of the room and down the hallway.

Basil tried his absolute best to process his surroundings, the hallway looking more like an abandoned office as he noticed from the minimal light the area was given from the giant windows that covered every floor. Struggling to keep up with this girl as she glided down each flight with ease, some Basil wishes he could do as he slammed into a particularly rough corner of wall.

The girl pressed a button on her headphones, raising her cutesy, yet panic filled voice as the sound of frantic footsteps, what could only be assumed to be gunshots, windows breaking, and walls caving closed in on them.

"MEIKO! Bring the van over, the operations been compromised!" She exclaimed, before letting out a panicked yelp upon noticing a flurry of light pellets raining down on them, leaving singed holes wherever there was a surface. Basil knew he'd rather not get hit by one of them.

They dodged from left to right, slamming into walls and tripping against the floor. Not wishing to get struck by one of those "bullets", although it was more like Basil being pulled in every direction, too disoriented to react in any other way.

But even then, one of pellets had still grazed Basil's arm, rapidly burning through fabric and skin, causing him to wince in pain as tears started welling up in his eyes before getting almost slammed into another wall.

Miku glanced out the window, swallowing her fears as she tightened her already monstrous grip on Basil, before charging down the flight of stairs and..

Right out a window, crashing through glass as minor cuts adorning their skin as the mild wind dried the blood.

...But Basil couldn't help but notice.. This girls expression as they fell, her face softening a lot more compared to how she looked with her teeth gritted. The light from the pellets that shattered a window from the floor they were just on reflecting in her eyes. For those few seconds he couldn't look away from her..

And he wouldn't have if it weren't for the fact they had fallen into a shallow fountain, the cold water stinging Basil's wounds as he still futilely attempted to keep in his tears.

He temporarily let his body go limp as she had grabbed his arm again, having accidentally taken hold of right where that cut was, but Basil couldn't even bring himself to voice any emotion, the onset fear of death being rooted into his very soul at that moment as he was dragged off into an empty street under the dark night,

No stars,

No moon,

Barely any working streetlights.

..He couldn't even think about that for a second as he had essentially been shoved into a black van, the girl jumping in shortly after and slamming the backdoor shut, commanding the other person to drive. Or at least that's just what Basil assumed as he was barely paying attention by that point, having started to cry.

He cried for a while, or at least, long enough for this strange girl to try and calm him down.

"Hey, its ok now.." She tried speaking gently, although not moving much as the back of the van was very small.

Basil barely noticed this, still letting out small sobs as he tried his best to wipe the tears away.

The girl eventually reached over, letting her neatly manicured hands move Basil's hands from his face, her face changing to one of sympathy as she got a good look of his red eyes and tear stained face.

"..Whats your name?" Her voice softened in an attempt to not startle him, her mannerisms following suit as her lips curled into a small smile as Basil finally looked up at her, still taking in a few sharp breaths

Basil took a few more seconds to collect himself to the point of actually being able to speak, just then noticing the glow in the dark stars littering the interior of the van before finally opening his mouth

"..I-I'm Basil.." He croaked, averting his eyes from her soft gaze, he still felt on edge about her despite what h believed being that she hopefully had no ill will behind her current actions whatsoever.

But such a response was enough to suffice with her request, causing her to smile to brighten, her hand slowly letting go of Basil's.

"Well, nice to meet you, Basil." The girl sat up straight, or.. As straight as she could considering their current circumstances

"I'm Hatsune Miku."
