It's been two weeks since... That dream, Basil luckily was discharged from the hospital sooner than later, having somehow only suffered a greenstick fracture in his left arm, it did prevent him from doing any gardening, meaning Polly and his grandmother had to pitch in, which only made him feel worse, as he couldn't do anything but lay around in his bed. Staring at the ceiling with tears in his eyes and having dreamless slumbers
He couldn't understand why he only had that dream once anyways; he didn't even know Miku at all. He didn't know anything about Luka. Was he going crazy? Was it a weird prophecy of sorts? He hoped not, and by no means was he going to speak to someone about it, it'll just be another problem that'll keep him up for hours on end.
Basil simply let those thoughts leak through every corner of his brain as he stared up at the ceiling, fixating his eyes on a sticky hand that had been stuck there for years, he had promised Kel that he would've gotten it before Polly had seen it. But that was four years ago, he was certain she had already seen it but decided not to say anything about it, so he simply never got it.
A knock was heard at the door after a while, forcing basil out of his trance as he sat up to look at the door, Polly slowly opening the door, her eyes trailing straight at Basil's arm, stuck in a sling, the silence was unbearable despite it only lasting a few seconds.
"Hey Basil, could you come to the living room?" Polly smiled, looking back up at Basil's eyes.
Basil nodded, standing up and following Polly to the living room, his eyes immediately locking right onto Miku, nearly stumbling backwards and onto the floor upon realizing she was somehow in his house, and sitting on his couch. He wasn't sure what exactly to do, hoping his expression wasn't odd enough to catch too much of her attention, after all, having to explain you dreamed about someone you don't even know would just come off as an incredibly creepy pickup line.
Ultimately their eyes did meet, causing Basil to force a smile and speak up
"O-oh, and this is?" The blonde bit his tongue in a cold sweat, attempting to force his nerves back in order to not worry either girl in the room
The time It took for Miku to stand up felt like the most excruciating few seconds of his life, her teal hair essentially pooling down her shoulders, her icy eyes peering into Basil's muddied soul.
"My name is Miku. Miss Polly has told me a lot about you." Miku smiled, confirming Basil's suspicion that this was in fact, a spitting image to the Miku from his dream, the only major difference being the fact her hair wasn't fully up, and her eyes were much livelier despite the fact they were just as striking.
The air felt thick and heavy as Basil forced a smile, his mind rummaging through a proper introduction in hopes of not making a fool of himself nor scaring Miku off.
"N-nice to meet you Miku, I'm Basil." He finally spoke up, biting his tongue as his voice cracked, forcing himself to look into her ultramarine eyes despite how much he wanted to run away. feeling as though she were mentally boring her field of vision into his stained soul.
Polly smiled at the two, shifting one of her legs over the other as she studied their completely different body languages before speaking up.
"Y'know, I used to know Miku's aunt back in college." Polly spoke with a smile on her face, Miku's own eyes lighting up upon hearing such information
"Oh yea, I think I remember Meiko talking about you awhile back!" And just like that, Basil was caught in the crossfire of a conversation that barely involved him, his mind going back to just how Miku was by any means real or sentient.
The seconds passed by very slowly, Basil attempting, and failing, to look everywhere else except for at Miku as she continued conversing with Polly. Their eyes meet every now and then no matter how much Basil tried for that to not happen, forcing himself to look down at his sling as he tried to mentally manage with his burning cheeks.
"Well, I think it's about time I get home before Meiko calls me back, it's been nice meeting you two!" Miku smiled, brushing any potential wrinkles from her skirt and walking to the door, Basil instinctively looking back up and at her lustrous hair.
"Make sure you tell Meiko I said hi!" Polly waved Miku off, Basil following shortly after, his hand falling back down to his side as his eyes kept glued to the door before looking back at Polly, a nostalgic smile on her face
"Uh... I'll be going back to my room." Basil murmured, waiting for Polly to allow him to go back before actually leaving. Polly as if on the spot, nodded in response and stood up
"Alright." Polly smiled at Basil, raising her hand before hesitantly lowering it, a conflicted look on her face before speaking up once again
"..And theres left over chicken in the fridge if you want it." She mentioned, before walking to the other side of the living room and grabbing the broom, looking back up to notice Basil had just ran off, sighing before going on to sweeping the dust from the floor.
Polly never knew what Basil was thinking, especially as of recent with his frequently worried attitude over everything. She's tried multiple times to convince him to talk about how he was doing, especially after getting hit by a bus and spending most of his days walking around the backyard and park, but to no avail, as he mostly stuttered and not respond whenever she or his grandma asked.
Initially she thought maybe he just needed a friend, luckily a friend from awhile back moved in with the kids she's looking after. Unluckily though, they barely spoke throughout the entire thirty minutes Miku was there, and Teto was busy catching up with "homework".
Maybe he'll open up more tomorrow.
