how they realized they liked you!

SUNNY:

    you were his first friend. you had known each other since childhood and gotten extremely close. since then, you've made other friends, as well. you formed a small, close friend group of 7, but you were always closest to SUNNY, and he was always closest to you. you were drawn to him in some way. after 4 years of friendship, and 2 years of having what you all called 'the gang', he began to have feelings for you. feelings that were... different than those towards his other friends. at first he brushed it off as just 'best friends.' the inseperable closeness of two friends, the fact that you were his first ever friend! he admired you, your confidence. you were his complete opposite, and yet that's what he loved about you. one day, soon after, you were all at your secret spot in the park having a picnic. a group of older bullies, HERO and MARI's age, tried to come in and steal the spot from you guys. they wouldn't listen to the older two of the group, so you stood and ran to them and told them off. who knew a 10 year old could know that many cuss words?? somehow, that was when SUNNY realized his true feelings for you. it wasn't just admiration he felt for your confidence... but of course, he had to keep that hidden. he could never tell you how he truly felt... what if he lost his first ever and closest friend??

BASIL:

    BASIL realized pretty quickly into your friendship that he liked you. shortly after meeting you, he invited you to hang out with the rest of his friends. you were adopted into their friend group of 6, you making it 7, and you all hung out regularly. BASIL loved to take candid photos of the group, he would keep them in a photo album. he cared immensely about his friends, and it was cute, really. you admired that about him. eventually, he found himself drawn to taking pictures of you, specifically. more and more, he would see you and feel the need to capture the moment. oftentimes, he would sneakily take a photo of you, and keep it somewhere safe other than his photo album, just so the rest wouldn't know. it was his little secret. one day, when the gang was hanging out, you were sitting next to BASIL, and he had his camera sitting next to him. you sneakily took his camera and took a photo of him, laughing at a joke KEL had made. you thought he had looked cute. he heard the sound and looked over at you, surprised, and when he saw that cheeky smile you did having been caught... he knew you were more than just a friend to him.

AUBREY:

    she didn't realize she liked you until after MARI had passed, and the gang fell apart. you were the only one who had stayed close to her afterwards. BASIL had destroyed the photo album, SUNNY cut himself off from the world, KEL found other friends, and HERO drowned himself in his schoolwork. you were the only one who made an effort for her, for MARI. you and AUBREY only had each other left, and found a new group of friends, THE HOOLIGANS. you had met at a young age, but for a long time, you were just a friend to her. one of her best friends. at 14, going into highschool, about 2 years after MARI's passing, one night you and AUBREY had a sleepover. she had wanted to dye her hair pink, and so you decided to go pink to match her. it was late at night, and first she had done your hair, which took a while, but you looked amazing. then, despite how tired you both were, you took the time and effort to dye hers. she ended up falling asleep in the chair while you were doing her hair, so you took a picture of her since you thought it was funny, and continued. you dyed her hair, let it sit, washed it out and everything, all while she slept. you didn't want to wake her, and she was always a really heavy sleeper. when she woke up in the morning and saw that her hair was done and you were asleep next to her... she instantly fell in love. she couldn't believe you cared for her that much. and, you looked really cute asleep with your pink hair. she ended up taking a picture of you, too, and you both laughed about your pink-haired sleeping pictures, later.

KEL:

    KEL always admired you. you were the only one in your little group of close friends who was able to outrun him in tag... beat him in basketball... well, except for HERO, sometimes... but he was older!! he loved how competitive you were, while still being kind, unlike AUBREY... you were able to put up a fight, but also accept defeat, and still somehow congratulate him in spite of it all, and give him that same sweet, warm smile you always gave him. the day of the recital, of MARI's passing... he was distraught. but unlike everyone else, he wanted to stay strong. he didn't cry. he stood strong in the midst of it all, for everyone else. when they rushed MARI to the hospital, you had all gone along with them. after she had been pronounced dead, KEL sat on the ground outside her room. he couldn't bring himself to go inside with everyone else, to see her... to see them... you saw this and took a seat next to him. despite the chaos in the room just beside you two, he smiled at you, sadly. he tried his very best to cheer you up, you were just as upset as everyone else, of course. but... you knew that he was just putting on this fake face for everyone.
"KEL... you know you can be sad, right? it's okay.. to be upset. you don't have to stay strong for everyone... and it doesn't make you weaker if you cry."
those few simple sentences, despite all the horror that had occured that day, made him fall in love with you. and, of course, burst into tears. and you just hugged him... and you two sat outside the room, alone together. someone had finally seen him for all that he is.

HERO:

    after you and HERO met, you quickly became good friends. he introduced you to the rest of his friends, and you were adopted into their little group. you immediately became incredibly close with MARI, as she was the same age as you and HERO, and became protective over the little ones. they were young, and still somehow some of your closest friends. it was very obvious that you were interested in HERO pretty early on, and MARI would always tease you about it. it was your little secret! she'd always try to hint it to him, too, but being oblivious, he'd never get the message. one day, or... night, because it was almost 12am at this point, he showed up at your door... pretty badly bruised. you, being concerned, asked him what was wrong and let him inside. he admitted that he had gotten into a fight... which surprised you, because you didn't expect something like that from HERO. he couldn't go home, afraid of his parents being upset with him... so he came to you. you quickly brought him upstairs and to your bathroom, took our some of your first-aid stuff, and immediately began tending to his wounds. he thanked you profusely, and he was touched that you cared enough about him to do all this for him so late in the night. while you helped him, he explained that the fight was with some guy named MIKE, that had been relentlessly bullying you at school... MIKE saw him on the streets and knowing he was friends with you, teased him about it. HERO tried to talk it out with him, but... MIKE wasn't having it. it warmed your heart, knowing that HERO would stand up for you like that. you asked if he had won, and through laughs, he said yes. of course he had... he was incredibly strong and brave. and now you know MIKE won't ever be messing with you again. you ended up hugging him. a long hug, one that... probably wasn't normal for just friends. you whispered a thank you to him. he hugged you back, told you it was no problem, and after that night... he knew he loved you. he would gladly beat up anyone for you in a heartbeat, just to keep you safe and happy.

MARI:

    after MARI became your tutor, you quickly became friends. she introduced you to the rest of her friends, who all happened to be younger except for one, due to her brother being 3 years younger than you. at first you thought they'd be annoying, but honestly, the group turned out to be really fun to hang out with, and you thought the kids were quite cute. they all found your multitude of piercings and small secret tattoos to be awesome, and were amazed by your various battle scars from random adventures you had been on. MARI, she would often be concerned for you... you finally felt truly cared for when you were with her... she actually cared enough to see past the 'rebel' and 'outcast' personality that everyone tends to see, and actually saw you for who you were. your good qualities. when she saw that your grades were going up due to her tutoring, she was insanely proud of you. but she knew that it wasn't just her tutoring. it was you finally caring, finally trying. she had seen immense amounts of progress from you, instead of just quitting on hard problems like you used to, you would actually keep going until you got it. you would perservere and try your absolute best. it was one day when you two were at the library, doing another math tutoring section, that she had realized. you were working on a really hard problem, one that even she had struggled on for a while. she was helping you through it, and somehow it was something she did or said to you, that made it all just click in your head. you looked up at her with this proud and wonderous expression, and then immediately went back to work and finished that problem. you smiled so big and you were so proud of yourself, and it warmed her heart. it made her feel something she had never felt before. and that's when she realized that she really did like you. and you two went out for ice cream afterwards to celebrate!
