Ryan was packed and ready to leave when Stacey came home after work, Stacey saw the bags and that look on his face she's seen many times before, Stacey didn't even put her bag down, she just turned around and left.
Stacey sat at the bar wondering how she had yet another guy deceive her and cheat on her without seeing any signs. They had been together for 3 years of her life and she had no idea of his cheating. It's happened so many times before, she thought she was an expert by now. Stacey sat there downing drink after drink giving Ryan enough time to leave their home.
Stacey downed her last drink and stood up to leave, as she looked up she noticed a guy walking towards her. "Not tonight" she said under her breath. She had seen the guy there before, but he always kept to himself, hardly talking to anybody.
"Hi, I've seen you here before and just wanted to come introduce myself, my name is Luke."
"Hi, Luke nice to meet you, I'm actually on my way out so maybe next time." Stacey said with a small smile.
"Sure, I get it. Well have a good night." Luke said as Stacey walked away from him.
"Doubtful" Stacey replied.
Stacey pulled up to the little two-bedroom cottage that she and Ryan rented, and just sat in the car thinking about all the packing she would have to do, their lease was up at least but now she was left to pack, find a new place, and move all on her own again.
Stacey walked into the house, it was cold and dark, no longer warm, and full of love. She made her way to the kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee before going to bed.
Stacey lay on the bed sobbing about the breakup, when she heard a noise in the house, she sat up and listened for any other noises also trying to remember if she had locked the doors when she got home.
Stacey got out of bed and made her way out the bedroom, she didn't want to put any lights on. She stepped into the hallway and noticed that all the lights were on in the house.
"That's not right" Stacey thought.
But then she thought perhaps Ryan had come back to collect more of his things.
Stacey walked around the house and noticed that both the front door and back door locks were unlocked, after locking them she went back to bed and prayed she got some sleep and put this whole day behind her.
Stacey didn't know how long she was asleep for but when she opened her eyes she saw the clock next to her bed read 02:00, she wasn't sure what woke her until she heard the noise, the same noise as earlier, again somewhere in the house. Stacey decided to go investigate again, hoping it was only Ryan coming and going.
Stacey left her bedroom and saw all the lights were on again. This time she called out.
"Ryan, is that you?' She yelled.
With her whole heart she wished she found Ryan just standing there begging for forgiveness, but all that greeted her was silence.
Stacey started to panic now and with a fast-beating heart, she checked the windows and the doors, and found them all locked.
She made her way back to the bedroom switching all the lights off as she went.
Stacey managed to go back to sleep and only woke up again to the sound of her alarm clock.
She took a long hot shower and got ready for work.
Stacey put her coffee machine on to have a quick cup before leaving. Stacey stood frozen and confused as she stared at her kitchen windowsill, a single white lily was just lying there, she knew she hadn't put it there, because she hated flowers. Without another thought she tossed the flower into the bin. Stacey drank her coffee and rushed out the house realizing she was already late.
