Matthew was sitting at Stacey's breakfast table drinking his second cup of coffee that morning when his phone rang and interrupted the silence. Stacey was in the shower, after deciding to go into the coffee shop today instead of sitting at home waiting for something or anything to happen that might not.
"Detective Colins." Matthew answered the call.
"Sir! It's Jenkins, officer Graves was found this morning dead at his house." Jenkins quickly rambled to Matthew.
"What? What the hell happened? How." Matthew asked quickly, checking to see that Stacey was still in the bathroom.
"He was stabbed 14 times in the chest" Answered Jenkins.
"Ok, I'll be there soon, make sure the secure that scene, Jenkins!" Matthew yelled.
"Yes Sir!" Jenkins hung up.
"Stacey!, I have to go. An officer will escort you to work, and I'll call you later." Matthew yelled as he left her apartment. Stacey just walked out the bathroom door then still drying her hair with a towel.
"Ok, then, Bye" Said Stacey shrugging.
Matthew arrived at the house of Officer Luke Graves to find cop cars all over the street and the forensics team already on scene dusting, collecting, and taking photos. The coroner was busy at the body when Matthew walked in the door.
Matthew went to find Jenkins, while looking around to see if there was anything he could see that may be a clue.
"Hi, Sir." Officer Jenkins was in the kitchen, reading through his notes.
"Jenkins, what exactly happened?" Matthew asked.
"Well, according to the neighbours, last night they saw Officer Graves come home his usual time, then he went out again, as he did most nights." Jenkins took a breath after realizing he was speaking way too fast.
"What's the matter, Jenkins?" Matthew asked.
"Sorry, I'm just abit shaken, he was one of us Sir!" Answered Jenkins.
"I know, that's why it's even more important we find out who did this and why, now please continue." Matthew said.
"Ok, so Officer Graves returned home in the early hours of the morning, according to the neighbour." Jenkins said.
"Wow, nice nosy neighbours he had there." Matthew commented.
"I know, right?" Jenkins replied.
"The neighbour said he heard a loud noise then silence, she waited a while then decided to go see what the noise was." Jenkins said.
Matthew noted the house was a semi-attached house, so he could understand why the neighbour was able to hear even the smallest noise.
"She knocked at his door, called out his then tried the front door, to find it unlocked, she entered and called his name again but didn't get any answer, so she walked further in, and she found Officer Graves on the kitchen floor with a lot of blood on and around him, she immediately ran out and called the police." Jenkins finished his report.
"Ok, so did madam nosy, note if he came home alone or with someone?" Matthew asked.
"Well, that's where she said she isn't sure, she was looking through her front window as she always does, it looked like he was hiding someone from her eyesight, but she can't be sure." Replied Jenkins.
"Well that makes sense, Officer Graves probably knew she would be peeking, so he could've hidden someone from her." Matthew said.
"Ok let me go have a chat to our neighbour." Matthew said as he walked back towards the front door.
