The cold morning air of Hope's Peak Academy was filled with a sense of anticipation and strange chills as students from various sides of the state and country made their way to the prestigious school. Each student carried with them the weight of their talents, their dreams, and their aspirations, not just that, but the drawbacks too. Among these individuals was Kokichi Ouma, the Ultimate Supreme Leader, and Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective.
Kokichi pranced through the school gates with an odd mischievous grin plastered onto his face, his eyes gleaming with chaos and unpredictability. His short build and strange, yet distinctive outfit made him stand out from the crowd, but more than that, it was his unpredictable way of acting and speaking that truly set him apart from the others. He seemed to never be telling the truth nor caring for anyone, quite selfish to be honest.
On the other hand, Shuichi walked in with an air of reserved determination. His cap casts a shadow over his dark green eyes, but there was still no hiding the intelligence and softness lurking deep within them. He had always been quite reserved and quiet, and preferred to observe rather than engage, a trait that had served him well in his line of work and in life in general, though, it did prove more difficult for him to get friends. Yet despite his introverted nature, he was committed to uncovering the truth in things, no matter how difficult it may prove to be.
Kokichi and Shuichi's paths had crossed once more in the school's courtyard, where Kokichi immediately noticed the detective's serious demeanor. Sensing an opportunity for some self-entertainment.
He approached Shuichi with an exaggerated tone, sounding pretty annoying. "Hey there, Mr. I'm-a-detective! Solve any cool mysteries lately? murder mysteries or crimes perhaps?" Kokichi's voice was teasing and impatient, his grin widening as he waited for Shuichi's reaction.
Shuichi looked up, slightly confused by the sudden confrontation. He looked at Kokichi for a moment, trying to read his intentions. "No, I haven't," Shuichi replied cautiously, murder mysteries is so unreasonable. "And who are you?"
"I'm the one and only Kokichi Ouma, Ultimate Supreme Leader, at your service!" Kokichi declared, bowing theatrically. "And you must be Shuichi Saihara, the Ultimate Detective. I've heard all about you."
Shuichi raised an eyebrow. "Have you now?"
"Oh, absolutely! I make it a point to know EVERYTHING about everyone here. It's part of my charm," Kokichi said with a wink. "What brings you to Hope's Peak?"
"The same as everyone else," Shuichi said, his tone guarded. "To hone my skills and become the best at what I do."
Kokichi's eyes sparkled with interest. "Yada yada! Don't think for a second that I'll make it easy for you." He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "After all, what's a detective without a few challenges?"
Before Shuichi could respond, Kokichi spun on his heel and skipped away, leaving Shuichi to ponder the odd encounter. He had a feeling that his time at Hope's Peak was about to become much more complicated, thanks to Kokichi.
As the day went on, Shuichi couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Kokichi's presence was like a shadow, flitting in and out of his vision, always just out of reach. It was both uncomfortable and unsettling.
During their classes, Kokichi would often make a spectacle of himself, drawing attention and causing disruptions. Shuichi, meanwhile, tried to stay focused on his studies, but his thoughts kept drifting back to the enigmatic Supreme Leader.
It wasn't until later that afternoon, during a break, that Shuichi found himself alone in the library. The quiet of the room was a welcome relief from the constant noise of the school. He settled into a corner, pulling out a book on forensic science, hoping to lose himself in its pages.
"Fancy meeting you here, Mr. Detective," Kokichi's voice rang out, breaking the silence.
Shuichi looked up, finding Kokichi standing there with a bemused expression. "Do you ever stay in one place for long?" Shuichi asked, trying to keep the annoyance out of his voice.
"Not if I can help it," Kokichi replied cheerfully. He flopped into the chair opposite Shuichi, propping his chin on his hands. "So, what's the big mystery you're solving now?"
Shuichi sighed, closing his book. "No mystery. Just studying."
Kokichi pouted. "How boring. But I suppose even detectives need to hit the books sometimes. Still, I bet you'd rather be out there, uncovering secrets and solving crimes."
Shuichi studied Kokichi for a moment. Despite his flippant demeanor, there was something about Kokichi that hinted at a deeper understanding. "Why are you so interested in me?" Shuichi asked finally.
Kokichi's grin widened. "Isn't it obvious? You're interesting. And I like interesting people. Besides, every good detective needs a rival. Someone to keep them on their toes at all times."
Shuichi didn't take that as anything much but instead just nodded. "Is that what you are? A rival?"
"Absolutely," Kokichi said with a nod. "And I promise, I'm going to make your time here TERRIBLE!"
As Kokichi's snickering echoed through the library, Shuichi realized that his life at Hope's Peak was about to take a very unexpected turn. And for the first time in a long while, he felt a sense of slight excitement. Maybe having Kokichi Ouma around wouldn't be SO bad after all...
