I was finally getting myself to fall asleep in my bed but of course the silence had to be interrupted by a loud knock. I groaned and tried to fall back asleep, telling myself it was just a branch knocking on the window or something. But my frustration grew when the knocking continued.

Grim stirred awake with grogginess in his tone. "Myah... Anix, I know it's the middle of the night, but I think we've got a visitor. Maybe it's those pesky ghosts again? They just don't know when to quit."

"Let's check it out..." Grim and I reluctantly got up and stumbled our way down the stairs and over to the front doors. I had to rub the sleepiness from my eyes to see clearly and my eyes widen when I opened the door and saw who was standing in front of me. "A-Ace?"

"What's with that collar?!" Grim asked.

Ace had a massive looking collar around his neck and he didn't seem happy whatsoever. "I can't go back to Heartslabyul House. I'm joining your dorm. For good."

"HUH?!" Both Grim and I exclaimed in surprise. It was such a sudden visit and a sudden change.

"Can you even switch dorms?" I asked.

"Who cares?" Ace rolled his eyes as he let himself inside.

"I'd recognize that collar anywhere. It's the same one that psycho stuck on me at orientation!" Grim stated. "What'd you do to get shackled with that?"

"I ate a tart." He admitted.

My eyes blinked and blinked again as I stood there, looking at him as if he was joking. "Are you serious? You woke me up for that?"

"Yeah, that's it! That's all I did! I was a little hungry, see, so I went down to the dorm kitchen and found some tarts in the fridge. Three whole tarts! Big ones, too! So... I helped myself to one. Unfortunately, our housewarden caught me. Turns out they were his. And that's how I received this. So... here I am." He explained.

"Are you kidding me? Look, I'm still not even over from how you treated me yesterday." I stated with an angry expression.

"You don't think that it's insane for my magic to get sealed away for eating ONE slice of a tart?! For a mage, that's like having your arms and legs bound and shackled! And there were three whole tarts! THREE! It's not like he could eat 'em all himself! Come on, you KNOW this is messed up!" He shouted.

"I suppose. But that's my problem... why?" I retorted with a raise of my brow.

"Man. You're heartless." He sighed.

"I'm not. But I'm not going to help someone who was rude to me. But I'll take an apology as payment." I stated.

"Ok, you're right. I'm sorry for how I treated you yesterday. But look at you now. The headmage told you you're now a student at Night Raven. Good for you. But I'm still shackled here!" He exclaimed.

With the apology now given and accepted, I no longer cared about holding onto the past. "Ok. But did you even apologize to him for it?"

"Man... I thought you'd be more sympathetic! I'm a victim of the housewarden's tyranny here!" Ace shouted.

"It may have been extreme, but you crossed the line. I get that you may have not known but you didn't even apologize for taking something that wasn't yours." I told him. "Stealing food is a serious offense. If you had stolen my food you'd be pinned to the ground."

"Alright, alright. Fine. I get that I should apologize. But you're coming with me, Anix! This was your idea, after all." He commanded.

I sighed heavily. "Fine. But that's all."
