Mac's POV

San Carlos Airport

Where Mac is About to Gain Some Altitude

So, we tracked Nikki to a private airstrip using a little bit of background noise and Jack Dalton knowledge. Hence why we are pulling around in a van at breakneck speeds towards the hanger. Thornton made a few calls ahead of our arrival. All aircraft were to be grounded at this airport. This makes spotting the Gulfstream G550 still moving pretty easy.

"Mac..."

"I see it!"

I sprint toward the plane preparing to take off nearly as soon as my feet hit the tarmac. This is probably a terrible idea, but there's no time to come up with a different one. Once again, off to the races we go... and this time, I intend to win.

I grip the inside of the wheel well and hoist myself onto the landing gear just before the plane leaves the ground. Yeah, I know what you're thinking. This is insane. And guess what, I'm afraid of heights. But, this is one of those man-up moments in my line of work that sometimes can't be avoided.

Looking down in this instance is not helping me, but unfortunately, that is currently where my feet are dangling as we climb higher. I swing myself over to have some sort of footing on the landing gear. This only makes me feel slightly as if I'm not going to die doing whatever it is I'm currently doing. Looking around, my plan soon forms.

Without the proper retraction of the landing gear, it isn't safe entirely for a plane to fly. While it technically can be done, no pilot is going to continue to fly with this issue willingly. Knowing this, I open my knife and sever a wire that connects the landing gear's movement to the controls in the cockpit. Luckily for me, it won't be long before the pilots are forced to call the airport and request an emergency landing. I'm not sure I've ever been quite so happy to see the ground getting closer to me.

We hit the runway with me still in one piece. I jump off the landing gear and roll onto the tarmac. Being back on the ground is a nice feeling right about now. I can't lay here forever though. Jack rushes toward the plane, taking his gun in his hands. I jump off the ground and follow him into the plane, once again coming face-to-face with Nikki.

"Drop the gun, Nikki!" he shouts, raising his weapon. "Now! Or I swear I will put one in you for real this time!"

"You want to shoot him," I start as I push myself in front of Jack, now staring down the barrel of Nikki's raised gun, "you're gonna have to go through me."

I take a step closer, closer, and closer until her gun is flush with my chest.

"Go ahead. You already had me killed once."
