A few months later, Atsushi and Akutagawa continued to go on secret dates whenever they had the chance. Their relationship remained a well-guarded secret, known only to Dazai, who kept their confidence.
One sunny Sunday, Akutagawa received a call confirming a reservation he had made weeks earlier. The reservation was for 5 PM. They decided to spend the afternoon shopping for outfits and other items for their date.
"Ryuu! Get dressed, we're going shopping!" Atsushi called out enthusiastically.
"I'm already ready, Atsu," Akutagawa replied, joining Atsushi.
"Let's go then," Atsushi said cheerfully, grabbing the keys from the counter to lock the door.
They left the house, not overly concerned about being seen by anyone from the Port Mafia (PM) or the Armed Detective Agency (ADA). Akutagawa offered to drive, and Atsushi agreed. They arrived at the shopping center, where Akutagawa parked the car. They started on the first floor, browsing through several stores, but nothing caught their interest.
"Let's go to the second floor. I don't really like the stuff here; it's kind of girly," Atsushi remarked, turning to Akutagawa.
"Sure," Akutagawa agreed, albeit reluctantly.
On the second floor, they found more appealing options.
"Ryuu, there's a boba tea café! Can you buy me a boba, please?" Atsushi asked excitedly.
"Of course. Which flavor would you like?" Akutagawa replied, smiling at his boyfriend.
A few hours later, they decided to head home as it was already 3 PM. They had plenty of time before their reservation, but they preferred to be early rather than late. As they walked out, holding hands, they failed to notice Dazai and Chuuya nearby. Unfortunately for them, Chuuya had already spotted them.
"Aren't those Atsushi and Akutagawa? Why are they together, and they're holding hands?" Chuuya exclaimed, shocked. He had never expected Atsushi to be Akutagawa's lover.
"Yeah, didn't you know? I found out about their relationship when I saw Atsushi texting Akutagawa, asking him to meet at a café. I suspected he was going to confess his feelings, and the next day, when I asked him about it, he didn't deny it," Dazai explained to Chuuya.
"I'm going to confront him tomorrow at work and see what he has to say," Chuuya declared, turning back to his original destination.
"Okay," Dazai said, following Chuuya to the store he was heading to.
Atsushi and Akutagawa enjoyed a wonderful evening at the restaurant. Atsushi decided to stay over at Akutagawa's house, partly because he loved wearing Akutagawa's oversized t-shirts that carried his scent. More than anything, he loved his boyfriend.
The next morning, Atsushi woke up early to leave Akutagawa's house unnoticed. It was around 6 AM. He dressed casually in the clothes he had bought the previous day at the shopping center. Before leaving, he planted a small kiss on Akutagawa's head.
When Akutagawa woke up, he took a shower, dressed, and put on his shoes. He locked the door and stopped to get a coffee on his way to the PM's base. Fifteen minutes later, he arrived at the base. As usual, he went to the executive's office to receive the day's instructions.
Chuuya was sitting in his chair, arms crossed and looking down. Akutagawa found this unusual, as Chuuya typically greeted him cheerfully in the morning.
"Is something wrong, Chuuya-san?" Akutagawa asked, wondering what could have upset him. Did Dazai drink his favorite wine? Did he steal or destroy one of his favorite hats? Did he insult him about his height? Those two are always up to something, he thought, waiting for Chuuya's response.
"Are you in a relationship, Akutagawa?" Chuuya asked directly, his tone sharp.
"Wait, how do you know? We've kept it a secret," Akutagawa responded, clearly confused.
"I saw you two yesterday at the mall. And why were you two holding hands?" Chuuya shouted, his anger evident. "Let me remind you that he is the enemy," he added, glaring at Akutagawa.
"I've already told you that I don't mix my private life with my work life. Besides, isn't Dazai-san the enemy too, Chuuya-san?" Akutagawa replied calmly, meeting Chuuya's furious gaze.
"Atsushi told me all kinds of things that you two have been doing. He got the information from Dazai-san, who was drunk at the time. But damn, you two are wild," Akutagawa smirked, grabbing the pile of work for the day and heading to his office, leaving a red-faced and speechless Chuuya behind.
