The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the city as Atsushi hurriedly finished his work. He had been looking forward to this evening for days. Akutagawa had invited him on a special date, and Atsushi couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. He rushed home to get ready, choosing a light blue suit that he knew Akutagawa liked. After styling his hair and putting on his shoes, he headed out, his heart pounding with anticipation.
When Atsushi arrived at the restaurant, he saw Akutagawa already seated at a table for two, dressed in a sleek black suit. Akutagawa stood up as Atsushi approached, a rare smile gracing his usually stern face. In his hands, he held a bouquet of sunflowers and purple roses.
"These are for you," Akutagawa said, handing the flowers to Atsushi. "I had them specially ordered. They match your eyes."
Atsushi blushed, taking the bouquet. "Thank you, Ryuu. They're beautiful."
They sat down, and a waiter promptly brought them menus. As they perused their options, Atsushi couldn't help but steal glances at Akutagawa. There was something different about him tonight, a softness in his eyes that Atsushi found both endearing and intriguing.
"So, what should we order?" Akutagawa asked, looking up from his menu.
"I think I'll have tea over rice," Atsushi said with a smile, causing Akutagawa to chuckle.
"Again? You really like that dish, don't you?" Akutagawa teased.
"I guess I do," Atsushi replied, laughing softly. "What about you?"
"I'll have a bowl of udon," Akutagawa decided, signaling the waiter to take their orders.
As they waited for their food, they talked about their day, their work, and shared a few light-hearted jokes. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable, a stark contrast to their usual intense interactions. When their food arrived, they ate slowly, savoring each bite and each other's company.
After dinner, Akutagawa suggested they take a walk in a nearby park. The night air was cool and refreshing, and the park was beautifully lit with fairy lights. They strolled along the paths, talking and laughing, enjoying the peacefulness of the evening. As they walked, they came across an ice cream truck. Atsushi's eyes lit up, and he begged Akutagawa to buy him an ice cream.
"Alright, alright," Akutagawa said, smiling. "I'll get one for myself too."
They found a bench to sit on and ate their ice creams, sharing bites and playful banter. Atsushi felt a warmth in his chest, a happiness that he hadn't felt in a long time. He looked at Akutagawa, who was gazing at him with an intensity that made his heart skip a beat.
"Ryuu, can I taste your ice cream?" Atsushi asked, looking at Akutagawa with puppy eyes.
Without a word, Akutagawa leaned in and kissed Atsushi, sharing the ice cream in the process. Atsushi's eyes widened in surprise, and he blushed furiously.
"HEY! What was that for?" Atsushi exclaimed, his face as red as a tomato.
"You asked for ice cream, and I gave you some," Akutagawa said, smirking.
"Yeah, but..." Atsushi trailed off, his heart racing.
"What?" Akutagawa asked, turning to face him fully.
"Can you kiss me again?" Atsushi whispered, his voice barely audible.
Akutagawa's eyes softened, and he leaned in once more, capturing Atsushi's lips in a tender kiss. This time, Atsushi kissed back, his hands gently resting on Akutagawa's shoulders. When they finally pulled away, they were both smiling, their foreheads resting against each other.
"Atsushi," Akutagawa began, his voice serious. "There's something I've been wanting to ask you."
"What is it, Ryuu?" Atsushi asked, his heart pounding.
"Will you be my boyfriend?" Akutagawa asked, his eyes searching Atsushi's for an answer.
Atsushi's eyes filled with tears of happiness. "Yes, Ryuu. I'd love to be your boyfriend."
They embraced, holding each other tightly, both feeling a sense of completeness they had never known before. As they walked back to Akutagawa's house for a sleepover, hand in hand, their story was just beginning.
