It was a pleasant sunny day when Akutagawa decided to head home early from work, having completed all his tasks for the day. As he walked home, he contemplated what to cook for himself and his sister, Gin. By the time he reached the supermarket, he had decided on sushi. He purchased the necessary ingredients and made his way home.
Upon his arrival, Gin called to ask if she could stay over at a friend's house (Higuchi). Although he reluctantly agreed, he reminded her to be careful.
By the time he finished preparing the sushi, it was already 5 PM. Feeling somewhat lonely, he decided to invite someone over. Naturally, he thought of his dear weretiger, Atsushi. He called Atsushi, explained the situation, and invited him over. Atsushi cheerfully accepted, promising to arrive in 20 minutes.
While waiting for Atsushi, Akutagawa decided to prepare some chazuke, knowing it was Atsushi's favorite dish. It didn't take him long to finish.
Moments later, there was a knock on the door. Assuming it was Atsushi, Akutagawa went to open it. To his surprise, he was met by a tall man dressed entirely in black, who handed him a piece of paper.
"If you still want to see Atsushi, you better go to this place before it's too late," the man said, pausing. "Or you might never see him again," he added before suddenly turning into steam.
Akutagawa was so shocked that he remained silent for a few seconds before snapping back to reality. Before rushing to rescue his lover, he went inside, opened a safe, and retrieved something from it.
He then stormed out and hurried to the location indicated by the mysterious man. Upon arrival, he was panting heavily, struggling to breathe due to his lung disease, but he managed to search the entire building. On the top floor, at the end of a corridor, he noticed a room with a faint light emanating from it.
Approaching quietly, he peeked inside and saw Atsushi being electrocuted. A white-haired man stood beside him. Although Akutagawa didn't know who the man was, he was determined to save Atsushi from this torment.
Furious enough to burn the world, Akutagawa restrained himself from attacking immediately. He didn't know much about the enemy, and a hasty move could result in both of them being electrocuted. Instead, he made Atsushi aware of his presence.
Minutes later, Akutagawa found the perfect moment to strike. When the mysterious man stopped the chair and turned around to adjust the settings, Akutagawa leaped forward. Using Rashomon, he captured the man and swiftly injected a syringe into his arm.
It was a concoction developed by the Port Mafia, designed to kill its victims by torturing them mentally and unconsciously, ultimately leading to their death within minutes.
Akutagawa turned to Atsushi and retrieved a knife from his long black coat. He carefully cut each strap that bound Atsushi to the chair and gently lifted him out of it. His heart ached when he realized Atsushi couldn't walk or even stand.
They collapsed to the floor together. Akutagawa placed his hands on Atsushi's back, pulling him into a long, comforting hug. He felt something wet on his shoulder—Atsushi was crying.
They remained like that until Atsushi calmed down, with Akutagawa gently patting his back. Unaccustomed to comforting others, Akutagawa simply held him in silence, allowing Atsushi to find solace in his embrace.
Several minutes later, Atsushi finally lifted his head and looked at Akutagawa.
"I... Thank you, Aku, for saving me," Atsushi said, his voice trembling.
"Shhh, don't worry. I'm here now. It's going to be okay," Akutagawa replied in a soothing voice, a stark contrast to his usual stern tone.
He gave Atsushi a gentle kiss on the head before standing up. Then, he picked Atsushi up in a bridal carry.
"W-wait, what are you doing?" Atsushi asked, looking embarrassed.
"Don't worry," Akutagawa smirked, reaching for his phone to call someone.
