Chapter Thirty-Eight: Citizen's Arrest

Antonia

Inside the Mercy, Antonia looked around and then pointed to a table with six chairs at the back, furthest from the speakers and stage. They sat down and ordered a drink, watching as Levi and his band set up on stage. When he was finished, he made his way over to the table, looking at her with a smirk.

"Hey Toni, I wasn't expecting to see you again. Have we gotten a new fan?"

"Hey, Levi." Antonia smiled back at him politely. "How are things going?"

"For the band? Great. New of us getting signed has gotten around. We have a gig every night until we leave." He beamed proudly. "Unfortunately, Nola found out, and we had a bit of a fight about why I never told her." Seeing the way her face fell, he reached out and patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, I'm still not ready to tell her I know. I just said the way she'd been acting lately, I didn't think she'd care."

"What did she say to that?" Antonia gestured at the chair across from her, and he sat down, eying D'arcy curiously. "This is my friend D'Arcy, by the way." Levi smiled and held out his hand. When D'Arcy held out hers he took it and kissed the back.

"Enchante." He spoke in a bad French accent that made them both giggle. "Every friend of Toni's I've met has been hot, but you blow them out of the water." He looked at Toni as D'arcy blushed and laughed. "Seriously, where do you find them?"

Antonia shook her head, still giggling, but now at D'arcy's red cheeks. Levi was boyishly cute. She knew D'Arcy hadn't dated anyone in a while and could see she was enjoying the attention.

"Just lucky, I guess." She smiled at D'Arcy. "So what happened with Nola?" Levi tore his eyes from D'Arcy reluctantly and looked annoyed that he had to talk about his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend.

"That she was depressed that you were getting married before her despite us being together longer." He put up his hand and got the waitress's attention, ordering a Coors. "I told her she knew when we started dating that marriage wasn't high on the list of priorities. She brought the pearls to a medium and wouldn't talk about what was said after. She's been very subdued and sad the last few weeks. Also the smells have stopped, I think your devices have run out of perfume." He grinned. "I found the one on top of the fridge while cleaning. Pretty devious of you, Toni."

"Thanks." She smiled back at him. "It's fine; I plan on telling her I know tomorrow, and in return for not telling Dallas I know, I won't destroy her life."

Levi chuckled. "You don't have to. I have an email scheduled to go out to everyone with all the proof and screenshots after I leave next Monday."

"That's exactly what I was going to suggest." Antonia nodded in satisfaction. "Thanks, Levi."

"No worries." He peeled the label off his beer bottle and asked the passing waiter for a pen. He wrote his name and number on it and passed it to D'Arcy. "I'm technically still with my girlfriend, but I've been checked out for a while. I'm also about to move to New York for a few months, but I'd like to get to know you and get a beer when I come back." He winked at her. "Enjoy the show, ladies." He picked up his beer and sauntered off back to the stage.

"He is honest; I'll give him that." Darcy chuckled as she folded the label and put it in her purse. "What can you tell me about him?"

Maverick

Maverick, Eric, and Raven walked into The Village and got a table tucked out of the way by the pool tables, which still had a view of where Jynx sat waiting for Keanna to come in. Antonia told Jynx the file about Keanna was in the safe, and she had gone to the store and picked it up after their run that morning. After reading it, she sent a panicked text to Maverick asking him to come to the store. He got there to find her sitting on the floor in her and Raven's office with Raven, Eric and D'Arcy standing around her. When they calmed her down, they all sat together and came up with a plan for Jynx to break up with Keanna in a way that would be as safe as possible and minimize potential fallout afterward.
