I had just finished the first meeting on my schedule which was with an overseas client, thus the early morning meeting. It was an online meeting and i had just shut down the desktop in my home office.
I lived on my own in a penthouse in Malabar Hill, my family was settled in Juhu. I moved out at the age of 21. Me moving out had upset my mother so much that she didn't talk to me for months.
Usually I don't schedule meetings this early but this client is a big shot and we got his appointment after a lot of struggle and negotiations with his assistant. So i had to make time for this.
He is going to invest in our new project, an app which will help people secure their personal data online. And I'm the one heading this project so all the responsibilities automatically are on my shoulders but thankfully I have a team of extremely talented individuals who are helping me back this up.
I got up from my chair and walked towards the dining area to have my breakfast. While having my breakfast i was replying to my personal mails, and then talked to my assistant on the call as she briefed me about my schedule and convinced me to visit the property in Nariman Point that i inherited from my grandfather after his death a few years ago.
I had given it up for rent after consulting my financial adviser. i mean who knew that the old building could get me so much revenue yearly. Though i had spent a fortune on remodeling it but it still had that rustic feels and vibes to it.
I avoided visiting the property and don't have much information about the tenants as all of the paper works are handled by my assistant and real estate agent.
My assistant had checked the background and revenue of companies that had approached us for renting out the place and only the genuine ones got selected.
After having breakfast I took my blazer which i had hung on the back of my chair before sitting and left to visit the property. I was greeted by my chauffer and told him our destination and sat inside the car as he shut the door after me.
My second meeting was scheduled at 10 am so I had an hour to spare and meet the tenants. I had been postponing this visit for months now. I never had any nice memories of this property whatsoever.
On the way i made conversations with Ravi, my chauffer. I asked him about his kids and how their education is going, I sponsored his kid's education when i got my first paycheck. I had always wanted to help the less privileged people since childhood.
I come from a wealthy background but it has made me more aware of the conditions outside my surroundings. My parents have tried their best to make me and my sister down to earth and gave us a normal childhood without any expensive holiday trips or branded clothes and toys. We might have grown up in a wealthy household but our upbringing was nothing extravagant.
It took us 25 minutes to reach our destination. I got down from the car as soon as Ravi opened the car door for me. I looked up to see the remodeled building which was now an office to three companies. I entered the building and was greeted by the security guards.
