The law on non-commercial surrogacy was finally approved by parliament and released in early July 2034. There were some pros and cons, but the majority of Spanish society agreed.

Leonor and Sofia agreed to carry out the embryo transfer procedure into Sofia's uterus starting in mid-2035. However, of course this must start with taking eggs from Leonor's ovaries and sperm from Umberto.

"Your Majesty, you will be given the FSH hormone to stimulate the quantity and quality of egg cells. This hormone will be in the form of a liquid that must be injected into your stomach every day for 12 days. This must be done independently. After that, during the ovulation period, we will see how many of your eggs are mature. Later we will simulate how to do it."

"Okay, doctor." Leonor smiled. Umberto was no less enthusiastic. Their hands were clasped together throughout the entire time in the doctor's clinic.

Their hopes were high. The hope of a child in their family. The presence of an heir to the Spanish kingdom.

____________

At that night...

Umberto took out a box containing a syringe and a small bottle of liquid containing the FSH hormone. After that he rubbed alcohol on one of his wife's stomach areas.

"Do not be scared, dear."

"No, I'm not scared. But I'm nervous."

"Then just relax. Think about other things."

Leonor closed her eyes and tried to imagine beautiful things. Like, the image of a baby in her arms.

Meanwhile, the needle went through her skin. Leonor was a little shocked, but it didn't hurt.

"Okay," said Umberto as he packed up his tools.

"That's it? Just like that? I thought it would hurt me." Leonor was surprised.

"It would be good if it didn't hurt," said Umberto.

Umberto stood parallel to his wife. He put his arm around her shoulders.

"Thank you, honey. You're great." he whispered in Leonor's right ear.

"But there are still 11 days left," Leonor replied.

"Don't worry. I'll be there 11 days and forever." Umberto smiled.

______________

11 days passed and the awaited day arrived. That day the doctor would check how many eggs had matured during this ovulation period. Both Umberto and Leonor were nervous. Leonor was given an ultrasound to see her eggs.

"Great news! There are 8 eggs with the perfect size. There are 4 more eggs with a smaller size. Let's wait another day, maybe the eggs can reach the standard size," said the doctor.
