Chapter21: The Final Judgement

*****

I'll spare the spoilers for the non manga reader (just the parts important to this fic) so don't mind me if the explanation sounds vague in the first part of this chapter.

Megumi saves Hana Kurursu in a battle, who ends up falling in love with him.

She decides to help them out.

Haha is a sorcerer who shares her body symbiotically with the Angel, an incarnated sorcerer from the Heian Era, and thus wields the latter's jujutsu. Hana participated in the Culling Game so that the Angel could hunt down and kill the other incarnated players, including the Disgraced One, Sukuna.

In the meanwhile, Sukuna takes control over Yuuji and a fight breaks out. Okkotsu and Megumi fight him head on and in the meantime the others find a way to unseal Gojo.

Hana Kurusu and her technique finally allow Gojo to escape the Prison Realm. As an incarnated form of Angel, a powerful ancient sorcerer. She uses her Angel's Jacob's Ladder Cursed Technique to open up the required back gate of the Prison Realm.

Jacob's Ladder is a Cursed Technique that is able to extinguish any curse, whether it be a Cursed Technique, Cursed Object, or Cursed Spirit.

Gojo is back and ready to fight.

The sky was full of ash when he got out of the box. It had been dark inside the prison realm, time had flowed differently. He had been stuck in limbo, his senses purposefully dampened and it had been pure agony. He had been made separate from the world, removed from the flow of the universe that he had grown used to feeling, too controlling. It felt like he had missed a part of himself. Like someone had thrown him at the bottom of the ocean, to be surrounded by darkness and stillness. And death.

When his students had broken him out, it had meant the world. He had risen to their smiling and relieved faces. Had been dragged out of that silent darkness to their warm light, to their happy yells and shouts and sighs. It had been overwhelming. It had been everything all at once and for the first time Gojo had not minded the sensory overload, had not been put off by it. It meant he was alive, that they were all alive.

He found out soon after that his relief had been premature.

His students had made him proud, they had defeated that brain that had desecrated Geto's body, Kenjaku. They had protected Tenjen, and defeated those games. It had taken everything from them, had almost killed them, but they had saved the world. Shoko had seen him, surrounded by his students in the middle of a battlefield, and for the first time he had seen her break down. Had seen her express true emotion in a way that he had been sure he would never see from Shoko. It had shocked him, he had reached out for her. Had tried to comfort her. He could not have understood why she had ended up like that.

A part of him wished he had never asked. Because he could not blame Shoko for breaking down when he did not know what he would have done. If he had been there, alone, powerless as everyone he cared about was either dead or locked away. Shoko had held the fort for him as their numbers dwindled. Nanami had died, so had Yaga and now the last traces of Geto were gone. It was truly just the two of them now. The two of them and a group of even more traumatized children, all that was left of the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High school.

It had taken countless deaths, and a complete twisting of fate and even the end of the world at some point. It was years in the making, but finally a new dawn had been within reach. The start of something new, something that could be built from the ashes of their world, the same world that had taken everything from Gojo.
