I know, I know, I meant to update yesterday and I'm veeery sorry 😔🙈
So this chapter is kind of special, it's a) the first one not written in Dawson's PoV and b) the first one I ever wrote in a male PoV 😁
I noticed that only two people commented on my last part ((thanks for that ❤️)). If you didn't like it, please let me know. If nobody comments I feel like no one is reading and I won't have any motivation to continue.
I hope you like this part better than the last one 😊

Mills' PoVIt's been a boring day at work, we didn't have a single call, which was a rare thing. Having nothing to do made me feel like time was not passing at all.
When shift was finally over, most of us decided to go for a few drinks at Molly's. I agreed to join them since it was my first day back at 51, and so we all head over together.
When we arrived there, I noticed Dawson tapping Herrmann's shoulder.
She pointed towards the bar and I also followed her gesture with my eyes. Now I saw the person she had spotted as well.
Allison Rafferty, who used to be a PIC at firehouse 51. She was Dawson's replacement back at the time when Dawson was in the fire academy.
I saw Dawson talking to her, when Capp ordered the first round.
"So, Mills", Capp said and placed our drinks in front of us, "we are eager to hear what brought your ugly face back here."
I took a big sip from my beer. "Charming as always, Capp." Everyone laughed. "I realized I wasn't meant to work in a kitchen. I'm a firefighter. That's where I belong and where I want to be."
Mouch boxed my shoulder and some of the guys applauded. I laughed and got up. "Next round's on me."
I walked over to the bar and stood next to Rafferty, who was talking to Severide, Otis and Cruz. I greeted the four of them before taking the drinks back over to the others.
I kept it down to those two beers, but I still had fun, especially watching Mouch miserably lose dart against Tony.
"That's gotta be a joke", he exclaimed, sounding deeply annoyed, "I'm never playing that game again."
The whole bar laughed.
Time passed, and after a little while, Sylvie suddenly came walking up to me.
"Peter Mills", she said, grinning from one ear to the other.
"Hey, Sylvie", I answered and returned her smile.
"I just wanted to say", Brett started, "I'm glad you have made up your mind. I've missed you."
"I've missed you too, Brett. It's good to be back."
"Now", she continued, "I have a suggestion. What would you think of a little experiment?"
"An experiment", I repeated after her and rose my eyebrows, "what kind of experiment would that be?"
"Dawson and I think you should go talk to Raftery."
"You mean Rafferty?"
"Whatever. Dawson and I think you'd make a cute couple."
"Dawson said that?" I had a hard time believing that. Dawson's wasn't the kind of person who'd stick their nose into somebody else's business.
Sylvie shrugged her shoulders. "She wants to be kept out of this, but yes." She pointed her finger at my face, missed my nose and almost poked my eye out. "Oh come on Mills, do me that favor."
I sighed, knowing that I wouldn't get rid of Brett as long as she hadn't gotten what she wanted. "Fine, I'll talk to her. But only if you stay right here and sit on this chair." I pulled a chair over and gestured my hand toward it.
Sylvie clapped her hands and let herself fall onto the chair. Then she watched me walk over to the bar, where Rafferty was still sitting.
I sat down next to her. "Hey."
Her head spun around. "Uh, hey?"
I grinned at her confused reaction. "Sorry, uh, this might seem a little odd."
„It does."
„Let me explain", I said and made sure Sylvie couldn't see my face, „see that blonde girl over there?"
Rafferty looked back to Brett, who was watching us with a big grin on her face, and nodded.
"That's Sylvie Brett, the paramedic who is replacing Shay on 61. She suggested me to go talk to you." I laughed. "I'm pretty sure the alcohol was speaking out of her. And I couldn't get rid of her, so please just pretend to talk to me for a few minutes, okay?"
"But I am talking to you, now aren't I?" Was that a little flirty tone I heard in Allison's voice?
"Good point", I laughed, "want a drink?"
With a smirk she emptied the drink that was standing in front of her in one sip. "How could I miss that chance."
I ordered new drinks for both of us and then said: "So, how's life at 94?"
Rafferty shrugged her shoulders and looked up to me. "I don't work there anymore. After Leslie's death I went home to Pennsylvania for a while, then I decided to finish my internship at Chicago Med. I never passed the first year, so I'm starting all over again."
I took a sip of my drink, not really sure what I was supposed to say now. "So I gotta call you Doctor Rafferty now?"
"Not quite yet", she grinned, "but you may call me that tomorrow. I start tomorrow morning." She smirked and all of a sudden leaned in and placed her lips on mine.
I was way too surprised to pull back, so I let it happen, and, after a few seconds, even caught myself enjoying it.
When Allison sat back, I asked: "Where did that just come from?"
She bit her lower lip and gave me a smile. "Your friend was looking." I quickly turned my head and realized that Brett was in fact staring at us. "I thought it might give her a feeling of triumph."
"What a smart move", I responded, returning her smile.
"I'm just wondering...", Rafferty put her elbow on the bar and rested her chin on her fist, "what her reaction would be if we were leaving together."
"Hmm. How about we find out?" I reached out my hand to grab hers and helped her get off the chair.
"Hey Herrmann", I called over the bar before leaving, "do me a favor and call a taxi for Brett. And also, just watch her face for a second."
He looked a bit confused, but nodded his head yes, just as Allison and I walked out the bar.
We had barely exited the door, when I took her face in my hands and started kissing her.
She kissed me back, our tongues fighting for dominance for a while, until Rafferty pulled back. "My car's standing right over there. Your place or mine?"
"We can be at mine in 2 minutes."
"Yours, then." She kissed me again, and with that, she led me to her car.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The next morning when I woke up, the other side of the bed was empty. I took a look at the clock. It was after 10 already. As I sat up, I remembered that Rafferty had her first day back at Chicago Med today, so I got up and got dressed.
When I walked out into the kitchen, I spotted a note paper on my table. I reached for it and quickly read what it said. Thanks for last night.
I had to leave early for work and I didn't want to wake you up.
I saved my number on your phone, call me if you want to.
-AI noticed my phone laying right next to where the note had been.
I checked my contacts, and really, there was a new one named Allison Rafferty. I wasn't sure if she would pick up, since she was at work, but I tapped the number anyway.
After it rang a few times, a voice on the other end of the line answered: "Hello?"
"Is this Doctor Rafferty?"
"Mills!" It may have been my imagination, but there seemed to be a smile in her voice.
"I just wanted to know what that sounds like", I said and repeated: "Dr. Rafferty."
She laughed, then cleared her throat and said: "Listen, I really enjoyed last night."
"So did I."
"Uhm...", she suddenly sounded nervous, "maybe we could... repeat that, sometime."
"Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe add dinner, to get started?", I suggested.
"I would like that", Allison answered and was now definitely smiling. "Alright uh, I gotta go, save lifes and stuff. I'm gonna call you back, okay?"
"Okay."
"Bye." Then she hung up, and I left an imaginary note to myself to thank Brett's drunken mind.
