In the dimly lit Diagon Alley, rain cascaded from the sky in a relentless torrent, creating a symphony of droplets drumming against cobblestones. The air was thick with the earthy scent of rain-soaked stone and the faint aroma of brewing potions from the distant shops. Street lamps flickered, casting eerie, elongated shadows that danced in the downpour. The alley was almost empty, its usual hustle and bustle replaced by the quiet patter of rain and the occasional distant rumble of thunder.
“Why is it beautiful and scary at the same time?” Marlene sighed dreamily. The sight was almost hypnotic.
“Why haven’t we wandered Diagon Alley at night?” James questioned, a hint of disbelief in his voice. “How could we miss it?”
Peter pulled out a crumpled piece of parchment and added it to their to-do list.
“We’ll have to change that, won't we?” Sirius said with a grin.
A lone figure stood amidst the downpour, cloaked in a long, dark coat, its fabric glistening as it absorbed the rain. The hood of the coat was pulled low over his face, casting a shadow that obscured his features, yet the way he carried himself spoke of an undeniable grace and confidence.
“Now, who’s this git?” Barty asked almost childishly, his curiosity piqued.
“I think I have a hint who he is,” Regulus replied, his eyes flickering towards Lucien. The aura surrounding the figure said it all
As the vision drew closer, the hood was pushed back slightly, revealing the face of Lucien. His expression was neutral, betraying nothing of his thoughts or intentions.
“What’s he doing here at this hour?” Peter asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
“Probably something shady,” Sirius muttered, a hint of suspicion lacing his tone
His steps were measured and steady, each footfall creating a soft splash against the wet stone. The sound of his footsteps mingled with the persistent rain, creating a rhythmic accompaniment to his journey. Despite the rain, his movements were smooth, almost effortless, as if he were gliding rather than walking.
The alley, with its shop fronts closed and windows fogged with condensation, felt like a world apart, a place where time stood still. The rain had driven most indoors, leaving Lucien to navigate the near-empty thoroughfare alone. The only other signs of life were the occasional flicker of candlelight from behind curtained windows and the muted conversations of those seeking shelter inside the various establishments.
As Lucien continued his walk, he reached the imposing structure.
"Gringotts?" many voices chorused.
"Why is he here? I told you he seems suspici—"
"Have patience, will you?" Remus cut Sirius off.
