James's POV
We all huddle behind a building, our unity a silent reassurance as the darkness creeps in. "Clyde should be here soon. When we start hearing stuff go down, we sneak in," Jack says, his voice a thread that binds us together.
"Yeah, we know. But there's always that lingering doubt. I just hope this plan will work," Phantom says, his voice betraying his uncertainty.
Clyde arrives. "everyone is in position once the full moon shines. That's the signal for them to attack," Clyde says
"I'll take care of Carl," I say
"Alright, we'll rescue Nate and whoever else is trapped here," Jack says
"I'll go with you. I don't want you to make a stupid decision," Phantom says
"Alright then, I could use some backup just in case," I say, our preparedness a shield against the unknown.
A few minutes later, it's finally nighttime, and we start hearing things going down in the compound. "well, that's our cue. Let's go," Clyde says
We sneak into the building through the chaos. "we part here. Good luck, guys," Clyde says, going in the other direction with Jack.
Phantom and I go to Carl's office. "this is it. Be ready for anything," Phantom says
"Still that dark dragon thing you told me about? What if it's true?" I say
"I hope not. If it is, we're screwed," Phantom says
We arrive at Carl's office, and I kick the door open. "Carl, you're going to pay for everything you've done," I say, my voice a thunderous echo in the room.
Carl turns his chair to face us. "I had a feeling you would betray me, but not this soon," Carl says, his words a sharp knife of betrayal that cuts through the air, leaving us in shock.
"Well, I want to know why did you take me away from my real family and give me fake memories?" I say
"I've researched your family, James, and they had a ritual to release the dark dragon. And I needed something as collateral just in case I got caught, and I decided to take you to give you fake memories into thinking that Molly and I were your real family," Carl reveals, his words casting a chilling shock over us.
"You took me from my real family because you were power-hungry. That's pathetic," I say
"It's too late. I already performed the ritual, and we made a deal," Carl says
"Brother, we need to get out of here now," Phantom says
"Why?" I say, looking at him
Phantom is suddenly thrown across the room. "I thought you were more challenging than that, Phantom," Carl taunts, his sudden attack catching us off guard.
I look back at Carl and see a dragon silhouette next to him. "What have you done?" I say, my voice trembling with shock and disbelief.
"I have the power to do whatever I want to, and you can't stop me," Carl says.
"Doesn't mean I can't try," I retort, my determination clear as I form a fire sword.
Jack's POV
"Jack, get Nate's cell open. I'll stand watch," Cldye, our trusted ally, says
"Got it," I say
I tear the cell door open and I walk inside, and I see Nate looking away. "look, I don't want to do any more work; I've done enough," Nate says
