Jake opens the door to get some fresh air after he had fought with is siblings again. He took a deep breath. He doesn't even remember what they were fighting about.
Jake let out a sigh.
It's been eight years since he was adopted by Conner and he still doesn't feel welcome in the family. He knows he wasn't the friendliest but even now their relationship feels unfixable. He might try with Aiden again but Ally... After she left him to a bear on their camping trip their relationship didn't recover.

"I really need to find a job and get out of here." he mumbled under his breath.

At least the house is so big that they can easily avoid each other. Jake started walking after looking at the dark sky for a long time. He felt horrible not knowing how to fix this. How to fix him. How to not be so impulsive and so naïve. He should be different after he was hurt so many times by his parents, his ex and his so called friends but all he knows is how to lash out. His mind wandered to his grandmother, had he not lost her maybe things would be different. Jake was so deep in thoughts that he didn't even notice how far he walked and just as he wanted to turn around to make his way to his neighbor Miriam he tripped over something.

"Ouch" Jake called out after cushioned his fall with his hands. He stood up and inspected for scratch wounds. His left knee bleeds a bit and his trouser was ripped.

"Shit. The evening can't get worse." he exclaimed and turned around to make his way back only to catch the something he tripped over.

His eyes widened when he saw someone lying in a dark alleyway near his house. It was a rich neighborhood and usually nobody is out at this time at night. Jake was scarred but worry overcome him. He was hoping it was just a drunk. Slowly he got closer to the man. It wasn't somebody he had seen before. Not that he went out much anyways. The man had covered most of his face with a mask and a hood when he pulled out his cellphone flashlight he finally saw the blood on the man's body and panicked. In his shock he fell backwards on his bottom.

"Shit. What do I do now? Should I call an ambulance? What if its already too late?! Don't panic. Screw that do panic." Jake panicked for a while until he had the courage to feel the pulse of the mysterious man.

"He's alive. Okay now I only need to call an ambulance and everything should be fine." he muttered when suddenly the man grabbed his wrist which was still resting on the neck of the man. Surprised Jake wanted to scream but another hand covered his mouth when Jake was dragged closer by getting his wrist pulled.

"No... ambulance." the man firmly said. Jake just stared at him. The man's teal eyes lit up by the flashlight of Jake's phone which he dropped from the sudden jerk.

"And don't scream. If you understand blink twice." Jake blinked twice as response the hand from his mouth was removed but the hand on his wrist was still gripping firmly.

Jake wanted to say something but he could just stare in the man's eyes. He really looked like he was at his limit. His breathing was heavy. There was no way that man could be a threat in this condition. He could die if Jake just left him there. Jakes shock turned into worry. Was this how Conner felt when he found Jake all alone beaten in this exact ally?

"Then what should I do?" Jake asked. The man looked surprised finally loosening his grip and putting has hand on the wound.

"Just go."

"There is no way I'll just go. You'll die like that."

"Then I die. There is no way I'll go to a hospital." The man stated with a firm expression.

"Then how about my house? I have a first aid kit and it isn't that far."

"Seriously?! You shouldn't take strangers to your home like it's nothing. That's way to dangerous. Ouch." His wound hurt when he raised his voice.

"Well you can't be that bad if you worry about me. I'm Jake." he said while taking off his scarf and then pressed it on the man's wound.

"Can you get up?" the man just looked at Jake when he said that trying to analyze his intentions.

Jake just smiled awkwardly while trying to pick up his phone but the man was faster and put it in his pocket.

"Hey I need that."

"Well if we are going to the same place you will get it back eventually." The man said and then tried to get up.

It seemed to hurt him a lot so Jake offered his hand and then his shoulder for the man to lean on. They began to walk back to Jakes home. The pair was half way there when Jake noticed his right shoulder got heavier. He looked over immediately to see the face of the man being twisted from pain.

"Hey..."

"Tom."

"Huh?"

"Name's Tom" Jake was surprised that the man gave him his name but this didn't matter right now.

"Tom, should we take a break?"

"No keep going. I can endure this much."

Jake couldn't take his worried eyes of him. He wanted to know what happened and who did this to him but Tom was already really secretive and surely wouldn't tell him anything else. Tom noticed his worried stare. He didn't really know how he should handle it. It was nice and at the same time someone this kind should not put himself in this much danger.
