Chapter 10: Communication

Tom couldn't focus on the movie. The uncleared air between him and Jake felt like a tight knot in his chest. Suddenly Aidens phone rang, it was his boyfriend.

"I'm sorry, Tom. I need to take this. Can we pause the movie and watch this later."

"Yeah. No problem." said Tom waving Aiden goodbye.

Seizing the opportunity Tom went upstairs to find Jake. He was in his room and started pouting as soon as he saw Tom coming in.

"Look who decided to finally see me." said Jake with a sassy tone.

"What is your problem Jake?! Why are you acting like that?"

"Oh, now this is about me! What are you doing with Aiden?!" questioned Jake crossing his arms.

"Ooooooh. Is this what this is about?" Tom rolled his eyes because he couldn't believe Jake causing drama over something so simple to him.

"I'm not overreacting!"

"Then what else would you call this." accused Tom gesturing with his arms.

"So this is all my fault know? Who is it that betrayed me?!" Jake expressed his hurt.

"Urgh. You're impossible to talk to."

"At least try to make an excuse!"

"Jake....You being like that makes me realize that I don't really know you." Tom sighed before he continued, "I thought I did because of how we met. But you are unpredictable."

"Tom, I." stuttered Jake finally realizing his mistake.

"No, Jake. Let's talk when you're yourself again." decided Tom not wanting to deal with Jake in that condition.

Jake did it again. He shut out someone else. He couldn't keep his feelings under control and he can't act differently until they don't go away. But he couldn't let Tom walk out. Jake can't lose him. Not him. He pushed his jealousy and pettiness down and grabbed Tom's hand as he was about to leave.

"I'm sorry! Please don't go." begged Jake, surprising Tom in the process, "I was jealous of Aiden. I couldn't lose you."

"What do you mean?" asked Tom confused, "Me and Aiden just watched some movies. And how would you lose me I'm right here?"

"Well if you had spent more time with Aiden you'd realize how much better he is than me. He is cute, intelligent, you share interests an-"

"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. Hold up." interrupted Tom shocked, "You are right Aiden is a great guy but he wouldn't replace you."

"But if you spent time with him, I'm all alone."

"Jake. I approached Aiden to convince him to give you a chance again." confessed Tom.

"You what?"

"I know how much you want to fix things up with him. I'm sorry I interfered with your personal life. I just wanted to do something for you." apologized Tom.

"Oh... That's quite cute actually." said Jake feeling happy that he'd go as far as interfering in family matters for him, "Still you already trust Aiden enough to be around him without your mask."

"To be honest without you I wouldn't have been able to." Tom giving his second confession.

"What do you mean?" blushed Jake.

"You made me feel save and that gave me the courage to remove it."

"I didn't know." sighed Jake.

"Of course you wouldn't. I didn't tell you."
