I spy... Tom x Jake Disventure Camp Fanfiction

Chapter 8: No quick fix

Tom felt how fragile Jake was as he held him tight in his embrace. His shoulder had become wet from Jake's tears. He wanted to help him but what could he do? He had so little experience with fixing relationships and ultimately only Jake could fix his own mess. But it couldn't be bad to start him off on better terms. Tom thought about how he would approach the three. Only then he realized that Jake had fallen asleep from all the crying and he carefully tucked him in. He took his glove off before wiping a tear away. Jake's skin was warm and soft. The direct skin contact was something Tom was starved off but he kept himself from wanting to do more. He put his glove and mask back on.Then he went downstairs hoping for someone to have a conversation with. To his surprise he found Aiden in the living room.

"Hey. Aiden, right?" greeted Tom.

"Oh. Hi. I didn't expect that Jake would let you come down again? What's up?"

"Jake fell asleep and I don't want to go to bed yet. Can I join you?"

"Yes, of course."

"What are you watching?"

"Just a romcom. You probably wouldn't like that."

"So something like a Hallmark movie? Nice."

"I didn't expect you to be the type to like those."

"I get that a lot."

...

"So, Aiden. Conner said you were on tv or something."

"Oh that. I went on a reality tv show called disventure camp."

"Wow. What was it like?"

"It was freaking amazing. Not to toot my own horn but I made it to the final and I caught myself an amazing boyfriend."

"That's amazing, Aiden. I think I really need to watch that show now. Hehe."

"Awww. Thank you. You would love it and James – my boyfriend – is the best. He saved me from a cliff and won the million. He is really popular on tiktok too. How couldn't he be. Have you seen him. Probably not let me show you."

Some time passed by while Aiden proceeded to fangirl about James. Tom tried his best to listen but questioned himself if it was like this to have a relationship. When he saw how happy Aiden was he really wanted this for himself, making Jake pop up in his head. This was maybe the right time to ask Aiden about him.

"Hey, Aiden. This might not be the best time but what do you think about Jake?"

"Jake?" Aiden raised an eyebrow, "Well you are his friend. So let's just say he is frustrating."

"Really what happened?"

"You just can't talk to him at all and I don't think he will ever change his behavior around us."

"But I think he wants to make up with you."

"I believe it if I see it." said Aiden while crossing his arms.

"So you'd give him a chance?"

"Maybe. But you are really invested in him. Do you like him or something?"

"Hah. N-Noo. I was just trying to help." answered Tom defensive while getting red.

"Oh really. So at dinner you didn't flirt with him?" asked Aiden with a mischievous look.

"That was so not flirting!" defended Tom himself but he didn't manage to look Aiden in the eye.

"Well if it was, you should move on. He's too emotional." stated Aiden turning his attention back to the tv.

Tom looked hurt after Aidens comment. He didn't want Jake to turn out like Aiden said but he couldn't say anything in response. He knew the boy just for a day.

"Noooo. Why would you kiss him!" shouted Aiden interrupting Tom's thoughts.

He was talking about the movie their watching. It was quite dramatic with many twists. It reminded Tom of Indian soap operas.

"A stepmother huh. What will Riya be like? She is coming so." mumbled Aiden out after a scene were a the mother is revealed to actually be the main characters stepmother.

"Yeah, Riya. RIYA-" shouted Tom suddenly.

"Wahhhhh." screamed Aiden almost falling of the sofa, "What the heck, Tom?"

"I- ummm, got to go wash my socks? Yeah..." Tom excused himself.

Tom completely forgot about Riya because his head was full of Jake. He still had no plan on how to find out if she was an enemy spy or not. He could try again with the listening devices but in stead of her home putting them here would at least not get him stabbed. To get new ones he needed to make a trip home but would this be enough to catch her? What does she even want from Conner? Tom's head started hurting because he couldn't find any answers. Maybe being a spy wasn't for him but he can't give up. Not now. His scares would be for nothing if he did. This job was his last chance to proof himself to the agency. Only one thing is for certain he needs to put some distance between him and Jake.

I struggled a lot with this chapter and it's so short. I hope I wrote Aiden okay. Also I kind of feel like Tom at the and I need to figure out how he can catch her but brain is not working. Also they still know each other just for a day. How???
