Your name is Lummorneth
Your POV
A battle raged around you. Your head was pounding from the noise. You couldn't see anyone you recognized as you decapitated your latest opponent. Lightning flashed and thunder clapped, providing your sharp elven eyes a quick glimpse of the battle field. Hundreds were dead, elves, men, and orcs alike. You disliked seeing so much death. Without taking your concentration off your new opponent, you scanned the faces of the fallen, looking for the mortal who held your heart. He wasn't there. You knew you couldn't have him, his heart belonged to Arwen, but that didn't mean you would love him any less. Red hot pain shot up your arm. You'd been struck by an archers. Growling, you finished off another orc and slowly fought your way up to him. The orc shot at you again but you were able to dodge the arrow. All this time you kept looking for Aragorn, praying to the Valar that he was still alive.
Another half an hour or so passed before you found him. Cornered by five orcs. He was fighting valiantly but was clearly losing the fight.
"No!" You screamed as you looked for a way to get to him. You weren't going to get the in time. The orcs were too many. Then you remembered your bow. Taking a shot would make you vulnerable but if you were able to save Aragorn, it would be worth it. After running an orc through, you leapt atop some debris from the wall and put several arrows to your bow. Your skill rivaled Legolas so you weren't concerned about missing your target. You took the shot, nailing all five orcs. Aragorn looked up, surprised, but before his eyes could find yours, he was swept up again by the battle. In your moment of triumph, you had temporarily forgotten about your surroundings. It was only for a few seconds but it was long enough for an orc to find a window. The next thing you knew, there was a blade in your side. Pain overwhelmed you, darkness closed in, and you spiraled down into nothingness. You didn't even have the time to cry out in pain.
Aragorn's POV
The battle was over. We had won, the odds had been stacked against us but we had pulled through. At great cost. The lives of countless elves, including my dear friend Haldir as well as dozens of men. I watched from Brego's back as the remains of the army was eliminated by angry ents. Lummorneth would've been grinning from ear to ear at the impossible sight. When I had met Arwen, I had thought that no beauty could surpass her but Lummorneth had proven me wrong, with her light brown hair and sparkling brown eyes. She had saved my life.
As we headed back to the Keep, she still hadn't joined us. I was beginning to worry. There was no way she could've saved me without making herself vulnerable. Gandalf insisted that I return to the Keep with him. She would find us eventually, he seemed convinced that she was alright. As soon as we got inside, I began pacing. Seconds felt like hours and minutes felt like years. The wounded were beginning to flood inside for treatment but Lummorneth was not among them. Finally, I could not stand it any longer. I ran out onto the battlefield. The ground was littered with dead bodies. The orcs were being hauled away to be burned, making my job much easier. I combed through the battlefield in search of her but I couldn't find her anywhere.
I had searched the battlefield several times over before giving up. She must be inside somewhere. I turned around, fully intending to search the Keep until I found her so that I could tell her how I felt about her. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her brown hair on the ground. It was matted with mud and blood but no one else here had hair that long. I raced towards her, going around large hunk of wall, only to find her on the ground. With an orc blade in her side. Her eyes were closed and her bow laid not far from her. I knelt at her side and rolled her over. No reaction and she had never been a light sleeper. I pulled the blade out and blood gushed from her wound. The blade was rusty and was undoubtedly poisoned but it had kept her from bleeding out all those long hours. I pressed my hand to her wound, trying to keep the blood in. I put another below her nose, waiting for her to exhale. Nothing. I placed a hand on her neck and felt the faintest of pulses, so faint I thought I'd imagined it until the corner of her eye twitched.
"I need a healer!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. Lummorneth was still alive and I wasn't about to let her die on me. An elf was by my side in an instant.
"This does not look promising, Lord Aragorn."
"I need Athalas. The blade was poisoned."
"I have none my Lord. I just used the last of it." I gritted my teeth. I would not lose her now.
"Then stay with her until I return." Without waiting, I leapt onto Brego and raced away from Helm's Deep.
It did not take me long to find the plant I needed. I galloped back, pushing Brego to his limits. The whole time, Lummorneth was on my mind. If only I had told her to stay in the caves. If only Lord Elrond hd forbade her to come with the Fellowship in the first place. If only....the list went on and on. When I arrived back, Legolas, Gimli, and Gandalf were waiting for me in the hall. The healer was there was well but I didn't see Lummorneth.
"Where is she?"
"Lord Aragorn–"
"Don't you 'Lord Aragorn' me. I said where is she?" The healer trembled with fear and stepped aside. Lummorneth was lying on a blanket on the floor. Her face was deathly pale and the bandage on her side was drenched in blood.
"I have done all I can."
"Well I can do better." Legolas shooed everyone from the room while I worked. I ground the Athalas into a pulp before applying it to her wound and muttering an incantation. Now all I could do was wait.
Your POV
All you could feel was pain. You regained consciousness several times but never had the strength to open your eyes. There was no way for you to keep track of time and you didn't know how long you spent in the abyss of darkness each time. It seemed like forever. When you finally gained the strength to open your eyes, you were in a stone room. No one was there but from the view out the window to your left you could see that you were in Gondor. How long had you been out? A maid came in with a basket of sheets and when she saw you awake, she shrieked, dropped the basket, and ran. Legolas came in minutes later.
"Lummorneth! I was beginning to fear you would never awaken."
"How long have I been sleeping?"
"Two months. Frodo has destroyed the Ring and Aragorn has been crowned king." At Aragorn's name, you felt as if a weight had been lifted from your heart. He was alright. But then, Arwen came to mind.
"And what of the Lady Arwen? Has she married him yet?"
"No. He dismissed her, claiming that his heart belonged to another and that he would wait for her forever if he had to." Your brow furrowed. There was another woman you didn't know about? Before you could say anything, the door opened again and Aragorn came in. You hardly recognized him. There were dark circles under his eyes, his hair was in disarray, and he looked like he had aged two decades. The spark that you were so used to seeing in his eyes was gone.
"Lummorneth?"
"Aragorn."
"This is another dream." He muttered to himself, "You can't be awake."
"I am Aragorn. This isn't a dream." His head snapped up when you said that and he rushed to my side. Tears were gathering in his eyes and his hand trembled as he reached up to touch your cheek. You were astonished by the close contact. He had never done that to you before.
"Oh Lummorneth. I thought I'd lost you."
'It will take more than a stupid orc to kill me."
"Always so confident about everything but your beauty."
"So who is the lucky woman? The one you left Arwen for."
"I don't really know how to say this....I've known you for as long as I can remember and I always took you for granted. You smile, your laugh, your sarcastic, stubborn nature. Whenever I was having a bad day, you always knew how to make it better. When I found you lying unresponsive, I realized that I wouldn't be able to cope with losing you to another man. So I'm going to ask you here and now. Lummorneth of Rivendell, will you do me the ultimate honor of becoming my wife?"
"Yes! Oh Valar, yes!" You flung your arms around him, "Don't you ever hide your feelings from me again!"
"I won't. I promise."
