Chapter 7: Meeting the student council President

"The president has called for you in the student council office, please follow me." Once the purple haired girl said this she turned around and started walking without waiting for what i had to say. 

"What's your name?" I asked following behind her.

"Tachibana Akane." She answered shortly. 

It didn't look like she was in the mood to talk to me at the moment so i decided to follow behind her silently. We were walking for quite a long time as we soon reached the other side of the school, the halls were relatively empty with the occasional one or two people that would pass by.

"We're here." She said as we arrived to the entrance of the student council office. She knocked three times and then waited for confirmation to come in.

"You can enter." A voice said from behind the door, Tachibana opened the door and held it open waiting for me enter.

Walking in i immediately noticed the long semicircular shaped table in the middle of the room, there were large rectangular windows that allowed you to look over various parts of the school and i could see president Horikita sat in what could only be the presidents chair as it overlooked all the other seats on the table. 

"It's nice to finally meet you Ayanokoji." He greeted, gesturing me to sit down.

"You've been waiting to meet me?" I asked sitting down.

"There's no need to act clueless after all, you wanted this meeting to happen didn't you?" He said staring at me intensely. 

"I don't know what your talking about, why would i purposely set up a meeting between the two of us?."

Tachibana watched the exchanges between the two of us with a puzzled look.

"You can continue to act dumb but i think you know what i called you to talk about." 

"In that case i'm sure you don't want her to be here." I said referring to Tachibana who was standing next to him.

Horikita is a man who values his status and reputation that much is obvious after hearing what he said to Horikita that night so i'm sure he wouldn't want someone to hear that he practically assaulted his younger sister.

Horikita signaled Tachibana to leave the room to which she looked at him surprised.

"Are you sure serious? your actually going to listen to him?" She asked not expecting him to listen to me.

"Tachibana my decision is final, now leave." He said in a more forceful tone.

She didn't say anything else and walked to the exit, giving me subtle glare on her way out.

Once Tachibana left me and Horikita focused back on one another and for a moment we observed each other in complete silence.

"Eavesdropping isn't  a very admirable trait to have." He said breaking the silence.

"Neither is hitting your younger sister." i retorted.

"So it was you." He said readjusting his glasses.

"I'm intrigued on how you knew it was me." Whilst i wanted him to figure out i was the one there i was still interested as to how found out.

"As the student council president i hold a significant amount of power within this school, i simply gained access to the surrounding cameras that night and saw you leaving the area. I had then deduced that it was you because you were holding a branded water bottle that could be found in the vending machine just around the corner from the alleyway."

His ability to accurately match different pieces of information was certainly impressive, i can see why he was considered the greatest president the school had ever had.

I was also surprised by how he was allowed access to the cameras, he said himself that his position housed a great amount of power but it makes me wonder what else he can do.

"Now it's my turn to ask questions, why did you purposefully have yourself get caught?" He had done his fair share of talking and now it was my turn.

"There's a few reasons but i guess the main reason is because i saw you as a easy escape." He seemed confused by my wording.

"Escape?" He said, waiting for me to continue.

"Yes, your sister has been a real pain as of these few weeks and I've been lucky enough to find an easy way out."

"How am i your escape? If you done all this in hopes that i'd tell her to stop then you wasted your time." 

"As good as that would be i knew it wouldn't be that simple, that's why i made sure to take this." i pulled out my phone and showed him the recording i took of him and Horikita in the alley.

He watched it carefully until the end and then once it was finished i put my phone back in my pocket.

"I see. So you plan on threatening me?" He sounded surprisingly calm but wore a serious expression as he understood the position he was now in.

"Not you necessarily, but what do you think would happen if a video suddenly surfaced of the highly esteemed President of the school being caught assaulting his sister? Not only would you lose all your influence but it may result in you being kicked out the school." 

"So how has this got anything to do with Suzune?"

"Well, i'm sure you already know this but Horikita holds you in a very high regard, she aspires to become just like you so that one day you will acknowledge her. If this video were to be released then there's no doubt that she would blame herself for everything, she would be mentally broken knowing that her incompetence led to her brothers downfall."

"And you've come to me and not directly to Suzune, why?" He questioned.

"I had a chance to capitalize on this situation in two different ways and decided to take the opportunity."

"i'm assuming you want something from me, that's what you meant right?" He asked, waiting for confirmation.

"I wish to live peacefully during my time at this school and so all i want is your help if i'm ever in a situation where my life at this school is in danger." 

"It's not like i'm in a position where i can refuse so if that's what you want then i'll comply with your request." He accepted my demand with no fight what so ever.

He stood up from his chair and walked over to me, i done the same and we met halfway.

"You've gained my attention and so i'm interested to see what you will do during the rest of the time i'm here at this school, i hope you won't come to disappoint me." He extended his hand, gesturing for a handshake.

"Don't put your hopes up, i don't plan on sticking out much." I said accepting his gesture.

His grip was firm and he continued to apply pressure, i responded by applying the same amount of strength causing him to smirk.

"It was nice Meeting you Ayanokoji, i hope we can speak again soon without the whole threatening part." he joked with the last part.

"It was nice meeting you to Horikita."

"You can call me Manabu, calling me and my sister the same name might get confusing." 

"If that's what you want then it's only fair you call me Kiyotaka." He nodded and i prepared to leave the student council office, Manabu called Tachibana back into the room, giving me another glare as we walked past each other. I could hear her bombarding Manabu with questions as i left the room.

Now i only had to wait until the right time to confront the main problem.
