Kate Stewart x Reader

Kate's POV

Looking up from my laptop when I see movement in the corner of my eye I frown slightly when I see a younger woman sitting on Melanie's desk that I haven't seen before. Watching as Melanie laughs at whatever the woman says I feel a slight ball of jealousy at the thought of her getting this new woman's attention but quickly shake it off before getting up and moving over to where they're talking. "Stop that y/n! Jesus you're not setting me up with anyone else, I let you do it once but never again." Mel says as she shakes her head making me chuckle slightly which draws their attention to me. "Kate! Please tell my daughter here that I'm too busy to go out for lunch. She seems to be under the impression that she can just pull me away from work despite knowing that I'm busy."

"Your daughter?" I ask as I look at the other woman, y/n, and take a second to look at her, slowly seeing similarities between her and Mel making both of them chuckle. "Sorry. I just wasn't aware that Mel had a daughter. Go get lunch Mel, you've barely taken a break since you got here and you more than deserve to spend some time with your daughter. This can all wait." I tell her and she looks at me for a moment before getting up to grab her things making y/n roll her eyes with a smile.

"Would you like to join us?" Y/n asks and I look at her shocked before shaking my head with a small smile as I watch her jump off of the desk. Biting the inside of my cheek when I realise that her tight skirt had hiked up while she was on the desk and I've got the most amazing view of her toned legs. She is your colleagues daughter Kate! Snap out of it. I think to myself as she steps closer to me with a smile. "Are you sure I can't persuade you? I know that you're the boss but you still need to eat as well ma'am." She says and I have to bite my tongue at that as I meet her eyes and before I know it I'm nodding slightly.

"So long as it's okay with your mum then I would love to join you. I don't want to impose slightly and please call me Kate, none of that ma'am business." I tell her and she nods with a chuckle before scowling at Mel when she gets hit with a balled up scarf. Bending down to pick it up I accidentally brush my hand against her leg which seems to draw her attention to the fact her skirt wasn't in the right place and quickly fixes it while I throw the scarf back at a smirking Mel. "You don't mind if I join you do you? I don't want to intrude on your time with your daughter Mel."

"Of course you can join us. The more the merrier Kate." She says with a grin as she looks between us before walking away. "I'll go ahead and get us a table while you grab your things Kate." She calls back and I simply nod as I watch her walk away before turning my attention back to y/n who smiles at he.

"Is she always like that?" I ask as we walk towards my office and she nods with a laugh making me raise an eyebrow at her.

"That's not even half of it. She's toning it down because your her boss but she's normally not this subtle." She says and I nudge her slightly making her grin at me while smoothing out her skirt. "There's a lot of sides to mum and she only lets people see so much of her, it's her way of protecting herself. Give it time and you'll see just how opinionated she really can be."

"What about you? How many sides do you have?" I ask as I move to shut down my computer just now before grabbing my things and she leans against the door frame with a smirk.

"Wouldn't you like to know Kate Lethbridge-Stewart." She says as she pushes off the door frame and comes into the office properly making me chuckle as I step closer to her, reaching behind her to swing the door shut while biting my lip. Walking her back to the wall she smirks at me as she rests her hands on my shoulders making me press her back against the wall even more and she simply raises an eyebrow at me. "Something on your mind ma'am?" She asks playfully as her eyes fall to my lips before they move back up to my eyes making my breathing quicken as I lean into her slightly but before I can do anything her phone is ringing making me pull away from her. Stepping away from her to gather my bearings while she answers the phone I watch as she leaves the office while talking to whoever called her and bite my lip as I realise how close I was to kissing her.
