3rd person pov

The Adrestian Empire and the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus were at war. But neither side knew that love would spark between old lovers turned enemies...

Because love is a battlefield, literally...

(Y/N)'s pov

Blade in hand, I dashed onto the battlefield. Invaders from Faerghus were attacking, they were trying to kill Lady Edelgard! And I couldn't let that happen!

I'd sacrifice my life if that's what it took to protect Lady Edelgard.

Felix's pov

We were invading the Adrestian Empire, and for some damn reason, I was the one assigned to go off on my own to fight...

I knew that I might have to sacrifice my life, but I never knew I'd have to sacrifice my love.

3rd person pov

As Felix and (Y/N) went further into the battlefield, they drew closer and closer to each other. It seemed like old love drew them together.

And then... It happened... They saw each other.

"F-Felix?! What the hell are you doing here?!" (Y/N) exclaimed, clearly shocked to see her old flame.

"I could ask you the same thing! You betrayed me for Edelgard!!" Felix yelled angrily, though hidden behind his anger was... Heartbreak... And sadness...

"I'm sorry, ok?! But I couldn't fight against Lady Edelgard! Not after all that she's done for me!" (Y/N) said, pain and guilt lacing her voice.

"God damn it! I thought you loved me! I still love you! I want you to come back!" Felix yelled.

(Y/N) froze up. "Felix..." She said. "I can't... It would be treason against the empire..."

"Does it seem like I give a fuck?! So what if it's treason?! You need me, and I need you! Join the Holy Kingdom, and we'll be together again!" Felix yelled, his voice filled with anger, but his eyes imploring.

(Y/N) dropped her sword and took a step forward. Felix followed suite.

They ran towards each other and Felix pulled
(Y/N) into his arms, and they kissed.

"I'm never gonna let you go... Not again..." Felix whispered.

"I don't plan on leaving you... Never again!"
(Y/N) said, tears in her eyes.

Felix had also started to cry.

"Thank god... I love you so much, (Y/N)!" Felix said between sobs.

"Oh Felix! I love you too!" (Y/N) said, her voice cracking.

Felix's pov

The thoughts of the current battle going on left my mind as I held (Y/N) in my arms. I was so blinded by my love that I didn't notice an Adrestian soldier sneak up on us, until he yelled, "Treason!" And then... He stabbed (Y/N) in the back.

She screamed in pain as the blade plunged further into her flesh.

With (Y/N) still in my arms, I picked up my sword and stabbed the soldier, he died near instantly.

Once he died, (Y/N) collapsed to the ground, her breathing growing weaker, and her blood loss growing worse.

"Stay with me, (Y/N)!" I sobbed.

"I'm... Sorry, Felix... Goodbye..." (Y/N) said, then her eyes shut, and I knew that they'd never open again.

My true love was gone.

I guess that old saying was right... Love really is a battlefield... I thought.

Love truly was a battlefield. And it was cruel. I'd never love again.
