Growing up I never heard you say I love you
All I heard from the age of 8 till the age of 13 was the sound of your hand in my cheek
The feeling of it always stayed for a few moments
All I heard from the age of 14 till the age of 18 was my heart pounding every time you raised your voice on the phone
All I heard until now was your screams
About how stupid I was
About how I was never going to achieve anything in my life
Last night I heard you say I love you to my little sister and your younger daughter
I want to cry but why would I cry for something I never actually had?
