A lingering sense of skepticism arose in Johnny's blood as he held his hands deep into his pockets, roaming around the streets of Tulsa with Y/N at his side, not caring about anything as she stared at her feet, thinking to herself.

A crisp cool breeze filled the air that night, leaving a small chill to flow against Johnny's skin, causing him to be able to feel his body tighten.

His dark black beady eyes darted around everything, taking in it all. He was scared. But he couldn't admit it. It would hurt his manly reputation that he was sure Y/N thought of him as.

He cleared his throat, his back hunched over as he stood in fear. Fear not of what was there, but what could appear.

He could never walk alone after dark, it scared him to his core. Cause someone can come up from behind you and break your neck. They could just come up behind you and you wouldn't have a clue.

He kept his gaze straight, wondering and pondering how long he would have to linger in these after-dark hours. How long he would have to spend in fear.

Sure, he was almost always walking alone after dark. But he avoided it whenever he had the chance. But today, he couldn't help it. Dallas practically forced him to walk to the party alongside his friend so he wouldn't be alone. Plus, he was almost 18. Which meant that he'd be cool enough to join the party.

But Johnny wasn't always scared of the dark. Or... what was lingering in it. In fact, he used to find a comfort and peace in his moments of solitude in the midst. He used to find it relaxing and soothing if he was stressed after a long day.

He loved to feel the gentle breeze against his face and flow through his hair that would only exist in the presence of the nighttime. It wasn't as sunny and bright against his eyes.
