Enjoying her afternoon at the Curtis home was something that Y/N hadn't planned for. It was surprising. And unexpectedly comforting.

As she grew up in her home, she was always alone. It was just her and her thoughts. She didn't have a mom or any siblings.

Sometimes, she was grateful that she didn't have a sibling. There was no requirement to share her toys or to give up space in her room. Her life was truly fit for one.

But that also meant that she didn't have anyone to look up to. Or to set herself as a role model for possibly a younger sibling. There was no late-night gossip that she had seen on TV and doing your makeup with an older sister.

There was no one to tell her right from wrong. No one to guide her from going off the wrong path.

And her father was far too busy with work to ever pay any attention to Y/N.

He often left the house for hours at a time without anything to give Y/N other than a hug and a kiss.

But she didn't blame him. He worked hard. For the both of them. So that she would be able to have a roof over her head and food on the table. Even if it was just a small granola bar.

Maybe her circumstances were the reason why she was so alone. Because she was so poor that her father didn't have a life. So she didn't either.

Sometimes, she wondered if maybe her solitude was the reason why she was so desperate for the male touch. If maybe she grew up with a mother figure or someone to look up to, she wouldn't be such an easy target for boys.

She was often left alone at her house to make her own food. Which was usually a bowl of cereal and some milk. It was like her life was cut off by the rest of the world. Like she was just stuck in her small cozy home with two bedrooms.
