JUNGKOOK POV:

The twilight draped the city in soft hues of amber and indigo as I navigated my Bugatti through the familiar streets, each turn bringing us closer to mansion. The city's bustling energy of the day had given way to a quieter, more contemplative atmosphere, punctuated by the occasional whisper of wind through the trees.

Inside the car, my thoughts swirled like a turbulent storm. The tension of the day's office was replayed in my mind, the absence of Jin Hyung at kindergarten looming large. Yet, amidst the turmoil, a flicker of relief and joy sparked within me as I reflected on Jeongchan's recent transformation.

Just a few months ago , Jeongchan had been different—a reserved child, mature beyond his years, who understood my work demands with quiet acceptance. His understanding was both a blessing and a burden, leaving me yearning for typical parent-child conflicts that never seemed to materialize. I longed for him to pester me for amusement park visits, demand treats, or simply nag me for more time together, like other children did.

But recently, something has shifted. He had started to behave more like other kids his age, seeking my attention with newfound enthusiasm. It filled me with happiness and relief, knowing that my son was experiencing the joys of childhood in ways he hadn't before. His laughter had become more frequent, his smile more genuine, and seeing him like this brought warmth to my heart.

The sun was setting, casting a golden glow over the park where I used to spend my weekends. I was there with Jeongchan, pushing him on the swings, the sound of his laughter filling the air. Those were the days of joy, of simple pleasures that required nothing more than our presence.

One evening, I had planned to take Jeongchan to the movies. "Jeongah, we'll watch that new animated film tonight, just you and me," I had promised him, ruffling his hair as he beamed with excitement.

As the day progressed, an urgent call came in, pulling me back to the office. "Hyung, can you take Jeongchan to the movies tonight?" I had asked Jin, my voice heavy with guilt. "I have this last-minute work emergency."

Jin had agreed reluctantly. When I returned home later that night, I found Jeongchan sitting quietly in his room. "I'm sorry, buddy," I said, my heart aching with remorse.

Jeongchan looked up at me with sad eyes and said softly, "It's okay, Daddy," before retreating to his room. Jin later told me that Jeongchan hadn't enjoyed the movie and had been sad all day.

As I drove through the quiet streets, that memory mingled with the events of the day. Why had Hyung not attended the PTA meeting? I knew how important Jeongchan was to him, and Hyung would never leave Jeongchan like this. But why today? How could Jeongchan not be angry? These days, he expects more attention from me, but today's incident was different. Something felt fishy. Could Jin Hyung have something to do with Jeongchan's unexpected cheerfulness?
