(Thank you for being a sweet and lovely reader! 💕)

The quiet hush of the halls was disturbed by the distinct sound of steady tapping. It echoed with a monotonous rhythm, breaking the eerie silence.

Behind the closed doors of his office, Jungkook sat motionless, his head resting within his hands. The flickering light of the lamp on his desk cast shadows on the wall, accentuating the weary expression on his face. The silence enveloped him, punctuated only by the sound of his foot tapping against the ground.

The sound of the door creeping open caught Jungkook's attention. However, he didn't raise his head, remaining lost in his thoughts. Whoever had entered, he had no interest in engaging.

Yoongi crossed his arms, standing opposite Jungkook's desk. He observed the latter's weary figure, head buried in his hands. With a hint of sarcasm in his voice, Yoongi commented, "Holding your head like that won't solve the case, you know."

Jungkook stayed silent, his weary shoulders slumped and his usual tough demeanor nowhere to be found. In this moment, he appeared broken and vulnerable, a contrast to his usual composed facade. The weight of the case seemed to have taken its toll on him, leaving him with no energy for a witty retort.

Yoongi playfully sat on the desk, idly spinning the pen stack back and forth as he tried to lighten the heavy atmosphere. "You know," he continued, his tone laced with a hint of sarcasm, "I'm just so curious. Who's going to win, Jeon Jungkook or Kim Taehyung?" He punctuated his words with a smirk, clearly trying to provoke a response from Jungkook.

Jungkook suddenly lifted his head, catching both Yoongi and himself off guard with the sight of his tear-streaked face. In a voice hoarse with emotion, he confessed, "I don't know what to do, Hyung!" His usual composure had crumbled, leaving him vulnerable and uncertain. The words hung in the air, a rare display of vulnerability from the usually stoic man.

Yoongi's smirk faded as he witnessed the raw frustration etched across Jungkook's face. He stood up, placing a reassuring hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "Hey, hey!" he said gently. "It's going to be fine. It's just our job. Don't let it get to you." Yoongi's voice was a mix of sternness and comfort, trying to bring some stability to the broken man before him.

Jungkook shook his head, the weight of his emotions seemingly crushing him. "No!" he protested, his voice trembling. "It's more than that for me. I feel like I've done nothing at all. I feel so ashamed. My promises to everyone... they feel empty even to me." The pain and guilt in his voice were palpable, each word slicing through the air like an invisible dagger.

Yoongi pressed his lips together as he listened to Jungkook's emotional outburst. He found himself at a loss for words, unsure of how to respond to the depth of his partner's pain. Silence hung between them, the weight of Jungkook's guilt and shame filling the air like an oppressive fog.
