I am standing next to my brother's bed with a pillow ready to strike him when he moves in his sleep. For years, I've been waiting for my revenge and today, I just happened to wake up earlier than him.  When he turns around to the side where I'm standing I smile. "Perfect.." I mutter and then raise the pillow above me as I hit it as hard as I can on him.

"Ow, hey!" I hear a muffled scream from him as I raise the pillow again. "What the heck? Sof, what time is it? and why the heck are you hitting me with a pillow?"

"Why? Oh, so the days you hit me in the face with a pillow at dawn are suddenly gone?" I ask him and hit him in the face again.

"That was years ago, I don't do that now" He protests and snatches the pillow from my hand.

"If years are days in your language then sure, you only just did that last week" I put my hands on my hips.

"Okay, and?" He begins getting comfortable on his bed again.

"Hey! I hit that pillow on your face for a reason, get up!" I say and begin grabbing his arm to drag him out of bed. "Mom's calling you and how come you're so sleepy today?"

I hear him tsk as he starts taking his arm back. "Leave me alone, Sof" and then I gasp.

"Wait," I say processing the thought "Don't tell me your girlfriend broke up with you?" I ask as I almost laugh at the thought. Trina is James's secret girlfriend who my parents don't know about, they started dating a year ago and I met her in school once and she is so sweet.

That gets his attention and his eyes snap open again "What?" He looks at me confused and starts sitting on his bed "No!" he yells way too loud.

"Okay now that you're up, come on" I start grabbing his arm again but he doesn't budge.

"Why? Did she tell you anything?" He asks looking a bit worried.

"I'll tell you if you get up," At that, he's up and starts getting up from his bed.

"No, she didn't tell me anything I lied so you would come downstairs," I say in one breathe and before he can begin arguing I am pulling his arm "Just shut up and come downstairs"

No idea why James woke up late today, so unlike him but I got to know when Mum asked him.
"Where were you last night?" And, it was about time she caught him.

"Um, home- studying?" He replies, a very poor attempt at a lie. "That almost sounds believable, but a hard pass" Mum crosses her arms and looks over at me. "You have any idea?"

"Me? Why are you asking me?" I say and give her a look from where I am sitting on the counter while she's with James in the kitchen. "Have you seen Dad?" I ask her trying to change the subject.

"Nice try," she says with a smile as I look down in guilt. How does she see right through us? "Good job, Sofia the first." James looks at me and spits out that nickname. When I begin to protest, Mum cuts me off. "So, you were out yesterday?"

"Fine, I was" He admits "But who told you? It was our guard wasn't it?" He huffs as he mumbles sometimes. "Where were you?" Mum asks again this time I can sense the patience running off her because of her tone.

"Fine, I was at a party" He looks at Mum when her eyes widen but then she closes them and lets her hands fall to her sides. "You could've just told me" and now it was my eyes that widened, how is she calm about this?
