God this job is so boring.

You yawn whilst stretching, feeling your body telling you this awful desk chair will give you back pain for years to come.

"Need some caffeine y/n?" to the left, your co-worker Shoko suggests, smiling softly with her sunken eyes confessing her likewise exhaustion too. Today was the final day before the deadline, and sure as hell the manager of our team knows how to make the team work for it.

"You read my mind, give me like five more minutes I just need to finish up this section." She nods and turns her eyes back to her work.

"Come onnn now y/n how many years have you been here? Your time management is always sooo terrible..." Geto complains, you turn your gaze to the right to him to see that sly grin on his face knowing he's all finished and just staying here to mess with Shoko and yourself.

"I still have 4 more hours to get this finished so my time management isn't as bad as you say Suguru, shut up and go make yourself useful go get us coffees or something" You scoff back shooing him away motioning your hands whilst unable to disguise the smile in the attempted stern tone. Shoko laughed and chimed in telling him to get cigarettes as well.

He pushed back and rolled on his chair wheels towards your desk and scanned through your pages. "Mhm yeah just as I thought..." He narrows his eyes.

"Go on" You sigh, watching him put his hand to his lip and fake deep thought.

"There's just no way you can finish it in such short time" he exhaled leaning further back into his chair as the corner of his lip was turning into that stupid grin as you shake your head refusing to fall for his tricks.

"Nanami's gonna be maaaaad" He sung as he pushed himself back to his desk a cheesy grin plastered across his smug face. Infectious – you smile softly at his stupid antics.

"Oh please it's just the data I have left to do..." You grumble knowing full well you have much more than that left.

Suguru turns off his computer and grabs his bag to leave. He brushes his bangs out of his face and announces he'll be back with our coffees in hopes to raise our spirits. Shoko shouts after him reminding of her request (or more so demand) for another packet of cigarettes.

You check your watch and work out how long you have to finish the project. I can do this you tell yourself over and over again, gaslighting rather than reassuring. Nevertheless, you pushed through and so when Suguru returned with the coffee, you raced through the final pages of work.

You knew the main feedback would be the quality of your work but hey, at least Shoko and you were at last finished. The weight off our shoulder had been lifted and now the weekend was here. Finally.

"Took you both long enough" Suguru taunts again as each of us walk down the corridor of the office wrapping his arms over our shoulders. We each slap him playfully with our bags and resume the journey out of the office.

"Shall we go out later tonight? Grab some drinks in celebration?" Suguru suggested.

"I'm already there" You answered almost immediately, Shoko nodded alongside not even waiting till we left the building to have start lighting the cigarette resting in her mouth. He suggested we all try the new bar in town and of course you both had no objection, Suguru had always somehow found the best spots to go to in the city.

You all said goodbye as you each went your separate ways home to get ready. Geto texted the group chat informing you of the time to meet and location with a message saying to dress up a little more than usual.

Little did you know that night you would have met him.
