- Nanami POV -
"I liked your tone when you discussed the financial side of things. Despite being in an awkward situation telling management how much the finance is, I know you will be able to get them on board with how well you have displayed the information as well as your knowledgeable, but not too overpowering, approach to presenting." I say, trying my best to give the best advice I could - it's the least she deserves.
"Thank you Mr Nanami." She smiled. I want to tell her how proud I am of her, I've seen her grow and progress over the past few years but I couldn't bring myself to say the words of strong sentiment.
"I look forward to seeing you succeed y/n" I say, hoping she can translate my message of praise as I look into her eyes intently. Her eyes are so captivatingly beautiful.
"I appreciate that Sir." She softly replies.
I've been thinking for a while to ask for drinks after work with her, especially how often we both work late so I always thought the inevitable event would happen but I've never had the opportunity to ask - or more likely I've never had the confidence to ask. I contemplate how if this presentation were to be successful, it would be enough reason to celebrate out of work hours with her.
I pull my sleeve to look impatiently at the time, watching the hands tick and tick signalling it was almost time.
"We should get going." I say, grabbing my briefcase and walking out the door holding it open behind me for y/n.
As we entered the elevator, I pressed the button to the higher floors. The button number illuminated and the doors began to close. The mechanical wiring screeched and the silence echoed throughout. I heard her softly humming to herself without realising, she does this pretty often without knowing causing me to smile. Smile until the elevator came to a halt much too early.
The doors opened and what do you know - Gojo was on the other side. I thought it would have been at least a little bit longer until he disturbed our solitude but life has its ways of problems getting in the way a lot, and my main problem is always Gojo Satoru.
I looked the man up and down and clearly he was putting a little bit more effort into his appearance than his usual self. Of course, he's clearly just trying to impress y/n and judging by the look on her face- no? I turn to read her expression and see her eyes narrow at the man stood in front of the doors.
Had he already poisoned what was going on between them? Wow.. new record. I wonder what happened especially after his cocky attitude he was giving in our 'meeting' yesterday and the intent he had behind...
My mind winces at the memory. The image kept me awake last night. The way y/n held onto his tie to close the distance between the two of them colliding into a heated kiss, and the way Gojo tilted his head to stare directly towards me with that cocky glance proving his previous words when you'd come up in conversation before - 'I'd win' - like you were some prize to be won.
I readjust my tie knot, suffocating from the discomforting thoughts of him with her, now having to bear witness to their interactions once more.
The moment dragged out and it wasn't unlikely that the doors would close on him again he was taking so long to react. I cleared my throat to bring their exchanged glances back to reality, causing Gojo to enter the elevator standing so y/n was in between us.
The doors close and the elevator begins to whirr and rise once more.
"Y/n I'm so sor-" Gojo spouts, somewhat pathetically.
"Not now." Y/n snaps, causing him to silence himself and roll his head back to look up at the ceiling. What the hell happened between them?
Noticing y/n's zoned out gaze to ignore Satoru's presence, I turned to see him. He seemed - frustrated whether at himself or y/n - I'm not too sure - but he had clearly seen better days.
