Alright, first thing first:
This is a reference guide on the beastmen power system / ranking because there's a lot to it and who doesn't want a guide to refer back to.
I may add to this as the story processes, so this chapter will always be last and may seem incomplete at times because I haven't written everything in it.
And when I do add anything, I'll make a note about it in my author's note under whatever is the latest chapter published. I'll also add more spoiler warnings in case I add things relating to specific chapters. If you see this - ⚠️ *chapter name*⚠️ - take this as your spoiler warning.
Now that everyone's been warned, let's get to the good stuff.

Beastmen Ranking
There are three categories that beastmen can fall into based on their amount of power (be it stripes or tattoo /stars) they have once they become adult beastmen or for another special reason. Thus, it works as follows:
Normal Beastmen:
Almost all beastmen start out in this category when they first transform to their human form (around 16 years old). There are four levels one can gain as a normal beastmen and this is shown by stripe markings on the body.
1 Stripe - First Level up that any beastman can get. Most get their first stripe within a year of transforming, 2 years for herbivores, since they're less combative.
2 Stripes - Most will reach this level within a few months' time after gaining their first stripe. Of course, this depends on combat ability and blood (beastmen with a high ranking father - eg. has 4 stars - can gain stripes faster and are more likely to be an elemental beastman)
3 Stripes - This is the average most beastmen will reach in their lifetimes and is especially true for villages. Takes a few years to gain.
4 Stripes - The peak of a normal beastman. Most beastmen will reach this point and not go any further in their lifetime.
Elemental Beastmen:
This category of beastmen is rare and one most will never reach in their lifetime. Not only does one become more powerful and can reach higher levels of power, but one also gains an elemental power.
Elemental Powers Available:
- Water
- Fire
- Air
- Earth
- Light / Shadow Magic (Rare)
What one gains is depended on their bloodline and species. Eg. A Lion Beastman whose father had an earth element will also get an earth element.
Flying Beastmen are the only ones who can gain an air element while a water element is limited to those that live in water / are amphibious. An earth element can only be gained by land beastmen.
Finally, a fire element is for those living in the desert / can naturally resist high temperatures. Of course, there are cases where a beastman can gain a variation of an element - eg. having a snow element (subcategory of a water element).
This, however, is also quite rare.
To become an elemental beastman, one needs to gain four stripes first. Within a year of gaining a fourth stripe, a tattoo will appear on said beastman's body. They'll also gain an elemental power.
From there, a beastman gains stars on their tattoo to show their level of mastery of their elemental power.
1 Star - Noivce with some control of their elemental power.
2 Stars - Basic mastery of their elemental power. This is also where most elemental beastman will peak and never get further.
3 Stars - Strong understanding of their elemental power.
4 Stars - Complete mastery of their elemental power. Once one reaches this level they cannot go any further as this is the highest level one can reach.
Mythical Beastmen:
This category of beastmen is a special one reserved for specific species of beastmen who gain abilities beyond what an elemental beastmen will gain. Species include:
- Dragons
- Nine-Tail Foxes
- Griffins
- Phoenixes
- Mermaids
- Unicorns / Pegasuses
*This list is incomplete and I may add more to it as the story goes on*
These beastmen species do go through the same leveling system as everyone else, however, they are guaranteed to gain some kind of power, depending on their species.
Most are extremely rare to find except for mermaids and keep to themselves. A beastman can live their whole life without seeing / meeting a mythical beastman. Mythical beastmen also live for centuries longer than normal beastmen.
That's all for now.
Let me know what you think and I hope this helps out if anything was confusing you.
Please ask any questions if you're still confused about something or want to know more about something. I'll try to answer as much as I can without spoiling the story.
