Nox's POV:

If I had to describe my current feelings- it would be tiring.

"Wow, you look like you're gonna drop dead any second now!" I tilt my head towards her direction but then realize that I don't have to fuxking talk to her.

"Of all people, you're the one I get partnered with." I continue walking to our rendezvous, ignoring Hana's constant shouting. Her shouts laced with utter confusion.

"Shut up, Hana. We're almost there."

"Maybe If you were nicer-"

"Oh for fuck's sake."

Owen's POV:

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" Nathalia questioned once again. It's definitely a surprise to hear her be this concerned. She's been the more chill person in the group.

"I'll be fine, really." I let out a small smile, reassuring her once again until she finally concedes defeat.

"Alright. Don't overwork yourself. Call us whenever you need something." She hurriedly announced before waving a final goodbye and left the infirmary.

"..."

I sigh, my gaze wandering towards the infirmary bed infront of me.

There, sat Liam. His gaze still focused on his phone and occasionally, his bracelet.

I sigh, earlier when the others were here, he barely said anything.

"Liam," I called out, patting the chair beside my bed. "C'mon, stop sulking." He stared at mw for a moment before Sterling pushed him out of his seat.

The husky sighed and begrudgingly sat down the chair. The usual shimmer in his eyes have dimmed a bit, replaced by that concerned, and some regret.

"How're you feeling?" He asked, unsure of what to do eith his hands. His voice still carried that nonchalance that it always has but his eyes never lie.

"Could be better. Though, I think I should be the one asking that." I let out a bitter laugh. He always thinks he's sly. With that pokerface of his, strangers wouldn't see the facade. But I've known him for long.

Liam went silent, his concern immediately turned to annoyance, "You should worry about yourself, dude. My wellbeing doesn't really matter right now with what you went through." Again. He's doing it again.

"Stop, Liam." I sighed, "What happened to me doesnt matter-" I cut him off.

"It-...." Liam, in turn, resigned on arguing.

"...I'm doing fine. It's just whatever happened was my fault." The Husky flinched. He shook his head in disappointment. "You were unlucky, Owen. Don't blame this on yourself. I've heard a few bits from Sterling already. They planned this years ago."

"But I could've done better-"

"Could've? Owen, with all due repect to your abilities, you were outclassed by a wide margin." Liam glared at me, that concern evidently back in his eyes. "I'm not dismissing your feelings by saying this. It really isn't your fault, getting ambushed like that would feel terrifying if I were in your shoes."

"But Candy wouldn't be hurt because of me!" I shouted, tears finally finding their way down my cheeks. "I should've made her run and hide, rather than put her in danger!" The regret knawed, clawed and bit its way at my conscience. The pure weight of the situation dawned on me, crushing me with the guilt.
