Davis Xia was not your typical graduated high school kid. He was the only child of a wealthy family, a family that was always too busy to pay him any real attention. His parents were successful, career-driven individuals with little time to spare for their son. The result? Davis found solace in the thrills of street racing and the chaotic life of gang escapades.

Davis's closest companion in this wild lifestyle was Owen Zhai. Owen was the polar opposite of Davis—carefree, bright, and cheerful. Owen's parents were relaxed about his future, allowing him to explore his passions without pressure. Despite Owen's different outlook on life, he remained Davis's best friend, never judging him for his nocturnal adventures. Owen was the constant, the one bit of normalcy in Davis's otherwise tumultuous existence.

Davis had always been rebellious, his antics a cry for attention from his neglectful parents. They wanted him to pursue a university education to uphold the family's reputation. But Davis found more thrill in the roar of his motorcycle, the danger of high-speed chases, and the camaraderie of his gang. His family's wealth meant nothing to him; it couldn't buy the love and attention he craved.

But amidst the chaos, there is one person who kept him grounded—his older cousin, Sean Xiao. Sean was the eldest son of the Xia family on his mother's side and the pride of the Department of Visual Communication Design. Sean's endless energy and creativity were a constant source of stability for Davis. Sean was the one person Davis could talk to, the one who offered him an anchor in the storm of his life.

On this particular night, as Davis sped away from the police with Devano clinging to him, he knew there was only one safe place left to go: Sean's apartment. Owen's place was out of the question—it was too late, and he didn't want to disturb Owen's parents. Sean's apartment was a sanctuary, a place where Davis could find some semblance of peace.

---

As they pulled up to Sean's apartment, Davis glanced back at Devano, who looked exhausted and bewildered. The ride had been a blur of lights and adrenaline, and they were finally stopping. Davis cut the engine and helped Devano off the bike.

"This is your safe place?" Devano asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

"Yeah," Davis said, leading the way to the door. "It's my cousin's place. Trust me, we'll be safe here."

They entered the apartment, and Davis flicked on the lights. The place was tidy, with art supplies and designs pinned to the walls—starkly contrasting the chaos outside.

"Make yourself at home," Davis said, motioning for Devano to sit on the couch.

Devano looked around, taking in the art-covered walls and the organized chaos that was Sean's domain. "This is nice," he said, genuinely impressed. "Your cousin must be quite the character."

"You have no idea," Davis replied with a chuckle. "He's the only family I can truly rely on."

As they settled in, Davis's phone buzzed with a message. He glanced at it and groaned. "Speak of the devil."

"What is it?" Devano asked, sensing the tension.

"My cousin's on his way," Davis said, rubbing his temples. "He must have sensed I was up to no good."

---

Sean Xiao burst into the apartment, his expression a mix of worry and relief. "Davis! What the hell have you gotten into this time?"

Davis winced. "Hey, Sean. It's a long story."

Sean's gaze shifted to Devano, his eyes widening in recognition. "Devano? What are you doing here?" He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, looking between Davis and Devano with a mix of confusion and worry. "Okay, someone needs to explain what's going on."
