The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
Ocean Zhang strolled through the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures courtyard, his steps confident and his demeanor as sassy as ever. As a sophomore, he had firmly established himself as the campus's resident beauty and wordsmith. His sharp tongue and sharper wit made him both feared and admired, a combination that Ocean wore like a crown.
"Ocean! Over here!" called out a fellow student, waving a stack of notes. "Do you have the notes from last week's lecture on French existentialism?"
Ocean flipped his hair dramatically and sauntered over. "Do I look like your personal secretary? Honestly, if you spent half as much time studying as you do begging for notes, you might actually pass," he quipped but handed over the notes anyway. "Don't say I never did anything for you."
As he walked away, he couldn't help but smirk at the awestruck expressions around him. Ocean loved the attention but also the challenge of keeping his throne. And speaking of challenges, one in particular always got under his skin: Simon Gong.

The Department of Basic Medical Sciences
Simon Gong, the flamboyant and flirtatious sophomore from the Department of Basic Medical Sciences, was in the middle of charming a group of students with his latest tale of adventure in the anatomy lab.
"So there I was, scalpel in hand, when suddenly—" he paused for dramatic effect, "—the cadaver's arm twitched! Of course, it was just a muscle reflex, but you should have seen the look on everyone's faces!" He laughed, a rich, infectious sound that had everyone joining in.
Simon loved to be the center of attention, and his easy charm and wit made him a magnet for admirers. But beneath the flamboyant exterior was a fierce competitor, especially when it came to his childhood frenemy, Ocean Zhang.
Their rivalry was legendary, rooted in a history that went back to when they were kids.

Ocean and Simon grew up in the same neighborhood; their parents were close friends. As children, they were inseparable, always watching out for each other. When Ocean was bullied for his delicate features, Simon stood up for him, brandishing a stick and shouting, "Leave him alone, or you'll have to deal with me!"
Conversely, when Simon was mocked for his flamboyant personality, Ocean was the one who stepped in, saying, "Just because you don't understand him doesn't mean you get to judge."
They were each other's protectors and best friends, but their fierce loyalty morphed into an equally fierce competition as they grew older. By the time they reached university, their friendship had evolved into a rivalry that neither could escape.

Their paths inevitably crossed on campus, and today was no exception. Ocean was headed to the library when he spotted Simon leaning against a pillar, chatting animatedly with a group of students.
