A Week later Bruce got a call, from the police that he could pick up his niece's belongings from her old apartment.
He took her, and let her choose what she wanted to keep and what not. The girl decided to keep multiple things of herself, but also her mothers' necklaces and bracelets.
As days turned to weeks and weeks slowly turned to months, Percy slowly opened up to Bruce and Alfred, until she began to really see them as family.
Around the eleven months mark she slowly began to call Alfred grandpa or Bruce even dad.
He would deny till his dying day that he let the mug fall as he slowly looked wide-eyed at her when she first called him dad.
He couldn't deny that he felt like his heart would explode from the happiness.
A year after she moved in in Wayne manor, it was time for Percy to go to school, she was sent to a private school called Gotham elementary. (Now 5)
It was a Wayne family tradition. Every child would visit the Gotham Academy facilities up until their Highschool graduation. Afterwards they are free to do what they please.
In third grade, three years after she moved in with them, she managed to convinced Bruce to take her to the circus that was in town. (Age 7/8)
He couldn't bear it to dim the light in her eyes as she told him about the circus.
So, one week later they sat on a bench, popcorn in Percy's hands. The first thirty minutes were spent full of amazement, but in the trapeze performance of the flying Grayson's something went wrong.
The wire snapped just before the boy was about to join his family.
They fell to the floor with a sickening crack.
Bruce tried to cover her eyes, but Percy wiggled out of his grasp as she heard the desperate scream of the boy that hurried down the ladder, towards the unmoving corpses of his family.
Nearly everyone ran out, Percy couldn't stand to see the boy alone, crouched over the bodies of his parents, she ran over to him and hugged him, gently turning his body away from the horrible sight.
Dick Grayson didn't know what to do, he just saw his family fall to their death, all he could do was cry, cry for all the plans they had together and would never fulfill.
The last thing he expected was a girl running over to him and hugging him, but at the moment he couldn't think too much about this, he simply hugged back as he let her guide him away from his parents, while she muttered comforting words.
As the ambulance reached them and a woman gently checked him for injuries, a man also came over, looking distressed as he hugged the girl that helped him tightly.
"Percy! What were you thinking! This could have been a planned attack and you could have gotten injured!"
She flinched slightly. "Sorry dad, I didn't want him to be alone. I thought hugging and comforting him could help him." She told the adult a bit scarred, a small pout on her face, and his eyes softened as he knelt down.
"Hey, it's okay, this was a really nice thing. But in the future, please don't run towards a murder scene, especially if I covered your eyes to spare you the sight."
He then turned to the Dick, speaking in a soft voice.
"Hello young man, my name is Bruce Wayne, what's yours?"
Dick was glad his parents insisted he learned at least some English to talk to people. "I-I'm Richard Grayson."
He could see the sincere concern in Bruce's eyes. That didn't change what his parents and grampa Haly told him though, he shouldn't talk to strange adults.
