A strong king

When the sun came up, Tubbo heard loud voices outside of his and Tommys house. His best friend had returned late last night, stating he had been farming more diamonds with Fundy and HBomb. At that time Tubbo was still awake thinking about the future that laid ahead of them. When Toby explained to Tommy what had happened that day and that they had met Fein again, Tommy looked at him in shock for a second and let out a deep sigh. "We need to protect our city! Feinberg seems to be more dangerous then we though he would be", he had said before they went to sleep. They needed to be ready for the next morning and what was about to happen.

The voices grew even louder as Tubbo walked down the stairs and opened the door to their house. Outside it was warm and the air felt heavy. There was no wind and birds were singing, completely ignoring the four men that stood in Tubbos and Tommys small garden.
"What happened to our house?! It's completely destroyed!" BadBoyHalo came in without asking and was angrier then Tubbo had ever seen him. Followed by Skeppy, Sapnap and Dream, who all looked equally as mad they entered the house.
"It got blown up yesterday." What else could he say.
"Why did you not protect it? It is yours and Tommys city, no? You founded it and we moved here thinking it was a safe place!" Skeppy pushed Tubbo so hard that he almost fell and the younger man backed up a little bit.
"Stop, we couldn't do anything. We...we heard explosions and went there as fast as we could but there was nothing we could have done to prevent it!", he exclaimed trying to stay calm.
Interrupting their conversation, Dream stepped in. "Tubbo, if you ran their immediatly, did you see who did it?"
Sapnap nodded. "Yeah if you were there so quickly you must know right?"
"I...no, we did not see it. We found Feinberg in the crater but he said he was just trying to save the items. We have no proof he did it", he admitted and looked on the ground. Skeppy was right that it technically was their city, Newgate was his and Tommys idea all along. But did this make them responsible for what had happened?

"What is going on here?"
Tommy came from the outside and looked around in confusion. "Why are all of you here?"
Dream looked at him, all emptions hidden behind his white mask. "We were discussing how Bads and Skeppys how could get blown without anybody noticing who it was."
"I mean, we don't know for sure but Feinberg was pretty sus."
Bad raised an eyebrow, not satisfied with were the conversation was going. "And where is Feinberg now?"
"We let him go."
All of them looked at Tubbo, disappointed and with a lot of questions in their mind.
"Why would you let him go? If he destroyed pur house, he should be thrown into jail!", Skeppy screamed angrily at Tubbo, who could only look at the ground again in silence. He was ashamed of his inability to protect Newgate.
"This city is weak", Dream said coldly. This time his voice reminded Tubbo of the old times and it sent shivers down his back.
"We need to organize this better and make sure everything is protected."
Sapnap showed a fake smile and nodded. "Maybe we should not expect Tommy and Tubbo to run and protect the city, they are still children. Newgate should have a strong king like in the old times."
"Sapnap, you are a bitch!", Tommy screamed and fully ignored the "Language!", Bad shouted. "This city was our idea, so if there is gonna be a king, it is either gonna be me or Tubbo!"

Watching Tommy and Sapnap argue about who should be king, made Tubbo think. When did they agree they needed a king in the first place? He had never spoken to Tommy about this topic, he just new he never wanted to be king. Beeing president of L'Manburg had been the most stressful job of his entire life. Devided between friendship and responsibility his days were long and full of worries. For what? Only for him to make the wrong decision twice, exciling his best friend and giving away the disc, Tommys most prescious possession, lead to the full destruction of the entire country any many deaths.

"You are not strong enough to be king, Tommy, you are a child!"
"Oh shut up, Sapnap, you are the worst! I will prove that I am the best king this city could ever have! I will find Feinberg, get him here and he will be punished for what he has done!"

Nobody cared that they still had no proof. None of them payed attention to Tubbo, who was trying to stop Tommy from talking. What was he doing? How would even get Feinberg to come into the city?

Intervening once again, Dream made Tommy a tempting offer: "Alright, Tommy. If you can prove you are worth it, you can be king. If not, Sapnap will be king and you will have no right to decide Newgates future."
"Agreed! I will show you stupid green blob how to lead a city!"
"You have a week, Tommy", was all Dream answered and the whole group walked put of the house.
"He is never gonna be king", they heard Skeppy say, who was the last person to leave.

Tubbo stood in the hallway, he was shocked how this had went. Why was it Dream who decided the future of their city again? Out of nothing Dream had created an opportunity to gain power once again, even though he had not been involved in the incident. It wasn't his house that laid in shambles, nobody had stolen stuff from him and there had never been a real government in Newgate so far. Why should Tubbo and Tommy then be responsible for everything that happened around them?
And why, if Tommy faild to punish Feinberg for something he might not even have done, would Sapnap be king? He did not even have a house here so far.

"Tommy what have you done?" Swallowing hard Tubbo leaned against the wall and looked to the roof.
"What do you mean?"
"What I mean?!" In a rush of anger and disappointment he punched the wall. "Tommy you accepted a deal with Dream, even though he has nothing to do with that? Don't you realize you have given him power again? The deal does not even make sense at all! Why is Sapnap gonna be king, if you should fail? What if it was not Feinberg who blew Bads house up? What if this was just another one of Dreams plans and we walked right into his trap?!"
Ignoring the first part, Tommy shook his head. "It can't have been his plan. Why would Feinberg help him and portray himself as suspect?"
Hearing Tubbos doubts Tommy felt a sting. Now that his anger was washed away and he could think more clearly about what he agreed to, he felt stupid. Tubbo was right, but he would never admit that.
And there was something else in his mind. Only him, Fundy and HBomb new that Feinberg had indeed not done anything wrong. He was about to develop a plan to punish and potentially kill a man who was completely innocent just to secure his title as the king. Was this his time to be the villain?
