Building a house

They had spent the first night under ground, hiding from the monsters because most people did not have a bed yet. By now both Tubbo and Tommy were wearing a full set of armor and Phil had shared bread and some cooked chicken with them.
Phil had asked them what happened while he was gone, but Tubbo just shook his head and Tommy replied smiling: "Nothing. I am getting bored, let's do something!"
As soon as the sun crawled over the horizon and her light burned the zombies and skeletons to death, Phil guided them towards a small lake surrounded by oak trees.
"This is beautiful!" Jumping into the cold water, Tubbo swam to the other side, before climbing out of the lake and looking back to the other two. "We could make this the center of the city. Maybe we put a lot of fish in it and decorate it!"
"I want a big house right here!", Tommy declared, standing next to the lake, where he started to remove some of the trees. "I don't want to live in a dirt hole again."
Tubbo walked over to help him and smiled. "We can live together for now. We could even ask Phil to make a cool redstone door!"
The older man sighed. "First I have to build a house for myself. Why don't you just make the door yourself? You can learn it."
Annoyed and as dramatic as he could, Tommy sighed and shook his head. "Nooo. I don't wanne learn, Phil, that's so much effort. Ot sounds awful!"
The only reaction he got was a laugh from Phil as the older man turned away to walk towards the location he wanted his house to be.
"I can build the door", offered Tubbo and Tommy's face brightened. "Well, let's start building!"

When this day came to an end, they had finished outlining most of the rooms and made a little farm right next to the small lake.
When the sun set, Tubbo sat down on a wodden bench they made as a memory of their old adventures.
The sound of footsteps coming closer made him look away from the blue water, that was moving peacefully in the wind.
"H...hello dream", he said, his voice a little shaky. Standing up he grabbed his sword and swallowed hard.
The green blob, as they liked to call him, tilted his head a little bit. Tubbo could almost hear him raise his eyebrows behind the white mask. "Hello", he responded and Toby tightened the grip around the metal in his hands.
"What's up? Started your city already? Tommy told me you are planning on...well on doing it better then last time I suppose."
Seemingly unaffected by the blade in Tubbos hands Dream walked to the lake. "You don't need to grab your sword each time you see me, you know? I have changed. All of us have. You forgave me for what I did and I forgave you guys your actions against me. I revived everyone and you got your three lives back. Does that not show that I am not the same evil person anymore? The revival book is burned and with it all my power. Isn't that what you said?"
Not knowing what to say Tubbo could only nod. There was something in Dreams soothing, cheerful voice that he did not like but he had no idea what it was. Was Dream trying to manipulate him again? No, this time he would not fall for anything. He would give this man, the man who tried to kill him several times and manipulated him an his friends, a second chance, but he would never let his guard down again!

"Oh hi Dream!" Waving his hand Tommy came over to them and smiled across his whole face. "Nice to see you man, how are you? Do you wanne build a house in the city too?"
"Yeah, I think I will live in your city, it sounds fun." Still the same cheerful voice he did not like. Still that underlying sound of betrayel and threat, that put fear into every one of muscles so many times before.
"Great! Tubbo did you hear that? Dream will be our neighbour! This city is gonna be amazing!" Out of excitement Tommy clapped his hands and looked up to the sky. "Finally we will have what we always wanted!"

What was it though, what they always wanted? There were no discs here and that was what they had fought for in the past. Yes, there were nations too, but ultimately the discs were the reason behind the wars.
And now? Was it peace they wanted? It surely was Tubbos wish but was it Tommy's, too?
"Tommy, can I speak to you real quick?", he shyly asked and looked at Dream, before looking back at his best friend.
"Sure! Upstairs?" Without waiting for an answer Tommy grabbed his arm and walked up the stairs they made out of oak wood. The second floor was still empty, it did not even have a roof yet and the walls were missing on most sides. Casting a look over to the lake and the parts of the forest that were still standing, Tubbo felt a little more confident.
"Have you...did you really forgive Dream for everything?"
"Yes, of course! Did you not?"
Unsure of what to say, Toby looked away. He was not angry at Dream anymore but he just could not forget what had happened and he was still scared it could happen again.
"Tubbo, we agreed to restart. We agreed to put all our differences aside and just start again, without any exceptions. It's...it is unfair to treat him like this. He revived everybody and gave up the revival book, that's a good sign. Is it not?"
"It is, but...Tommy I just can't believe what he is saying. Everything sounds like lies to me and I am afraid to fall for his tricks once again." Worried Tubbo placed a hand on his head and looked at the stars high above them.
Tommy was silent for a few seconds, before he started speaking again. More quiet and with one hand on Tubbos shoulder he said: "I know, I feel the same way. We will be careful, I promise. This time I will protect you at all cost, he won't harm you again and he won't harm me or destroy the city or anything like that!"
